I was cleaning my beloved Sport yesterday afternoon and noticed a double gouge of about 0.5mm on my otherwise pristine white bonnet.

OK, so it's tiny. but it's there, and I can see the silver-grey underneath the lovely pearescent white  Sad

So my question - What do I need to do to stop rust etc? Am I being thoroughly paranoid? Since I was cleaning the car anyway I've given the area a good dose of Meguiar's NXT Wax detail spray....

Hi MikeyG

if you bought the car new i would get the dealer to touch up the paint on the next service and have the paint inspection done (i think this has to be done to keep up the warranty) then if you have any corrosion / paint issues in the future you are covered.

I know I'm probably being paraniod, but this is my first ever new car - I've only done 700 miles and the 1st service is at about 3000 I gather.... can I leave it that long without worrying?

I had some issues when first pick up my car Sad
But if you are going to use touch up paint on any scratch AVOID waxing or polishing it.
