my 2 month old mazda2 sport has a problem witht he alarm (which it has had since purchase) and i was wondering if anyone alse has had the same happen.  very often when i lock the car i get about 50 yards away and the alarm will sound but the lights dont flash, i can unlock and re-lock the car and it will sound again, very anoying.  I took it to mazda to look at, they plugged it in and a week later still no answer so i have booked it into a different mazda garage.
Any ideas?

Janie

Have a look at this post:

http://www.mazda2forums.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,799.0.html

On the second page of the topic, it appears there is a problem with the burglar control unit. Let your dealer know this could be the problem.

There is also another topic on the alarm in the vehicle electrics area.

I parked up at the garage this morning, locked the car and sure enough 10 seconds later the alarm went off, so at least it happened there, a fault showed up on the internal sensor so they have ordered a new one, hope this will solve the problem as it is getting really annoying now.  Fingers crossed.

HI all. Took my Mazda2 sport (brand new 10 plate) back to Mazda Wolverhampton with this intermittent alarm going off without lights etc. They told me yesterday when I rang they would put it on the diagnostics if I could drop it to them at 10Am.When I arrived I told them about a possible fix by replacing the control box and about other people having sensors changed & error codes removed but with no joy.(having used this forum). Not wanting to tell them their job either. But if looks could kill! The young and shall we say inexperienced service boy said in a few more words.O ye we know about it, can't fit you in on the diagnostics check, far too busy, we'll call you later so go away.Hmmm.  Angry .All I said was well why didn't you ring me to tell me this before I arrived. Anyway the showroom salesman who we had dealt with(bless him) came over and sorted the situation. Got a gallon of petrol for the wasted trip.
I've been told to turn the internal alarm sensors off (on the key fob)for a week and they'll call me back.
Hope this isn't the start of a bad service relationship.
I'll keep you posted.
Loopy.

Hi Loopy I hope you get your alarm sorted out, do you find that the alarm itself is not very loud anyway? or is it just ours!

I wonder if its related to the petrol flap. I found mine had come open by itself once. When I started to get false alarms, I juggled with the latch and (touch wood) its behaved itself since. The (yes, a bit weedy) alarm sound does even seem to come from the area of the car.

I had the false alarm business again yesterday morning. Lock the car, walk away and within a minute the weedy alarm goes off. Happened about five times. I wiggled the petrol flap in case it was down to a dodgy switch there, but it didn't make any difference. So I unlocked it, got in, and blew on the two sensors - which seems to have stopped it, at least for now. So I guess it might be a condensation issue - it was damp yesterday morning, had the heating on, two of us in the car and the metal sensors were probably cold.

Picked up my 10 plate mazda2 about three weeks ago now and ever since I've not been able to lock it with the remote Sad The manual key double locks fine but the remote will set off this half hearted alarm with no lights. Having taken it in to the Hendy garage this morning they basically said it was a known problem and that they had 5 more with the same thing on the waiting list to be fixed! I asked when this would be sorted and they said they were waiting for Mazda to find out what it was so they could then apply the fix. I guess I’m just left waiting for a phone call Huh? I really thought Mazda had a good reputation for customer care, they were very nice about it but that doesn’t really fix the problem. Hope I get a phone call soon.

My breathing-on-the-sensors suggestion is obviously complete pants because I'm still getting the problem.

Is this really the "main" car alarm that's going off, or some kind of battery backup? As you say, Andy, no lights, weedy alarm and it only runs for about 30 seconds. Ain't going to scare many thieving scumbags off like that, is it?!

Well the garage fitted a new sensor on wednesday and surprise surprise the alarm is still going off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Added to that my back window isnt sealed properly causing alot of wind noise at speed.  Needless to say I am not at all impressed with my new car.  This is the first time I have ever bought a new car and it is a big thing to me to spend this amount of money, I do not expect to be taking it back to the garage all the time.  I want to be in love with my 2sport like others seem to be but im just not! I am waiting for them to get back to me regards the back window and if they think they can palm me off with not claiming on the warranty like they suggested they will have a fight on there hands!!
Ok rant over...for now.
