Well the garage fitted a new sensor on wednesday and surprise surprise the alarm is still going off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Added to that my back window isnt sealed properly causing alot of wind noise at speed. Needless to say I am not at all impressed with my new car. This is the first time I have ever bought a new car and it is a big thing to me to spend this amount of money, I do not expect to be taking it back to the garage all the time. I want to be in love with my 2sport like others seem to be but im just not! I am waiting for them to get back to me regards the back window and if they think they can palm me off with not claiming on the warranty like they suggested they will have a fight on there hands!! Ok rant over...for now.
you go girl they seem to think that they have the upper hand these days but they need us a heck of alot more than we need them a good rant when they have people in there showroom always seems to get results

I'm having the same problem with my 1.5 sport they plug the car in and it says internal sensor fault so they change the sensors and it still goes off. i've had to have a shock changed on the back because it was broke. The mpg ranges between 20 - 30 mpg on a good day. i've got seat trims that are broken the list goes on it's been in 3 times and they fixed nothing at all at the moment they have had it for 5 days and still don't know what's wrong with it. it's 2 months old and only done 1600 miles. I've rang mazda uk to ask how i get the car changed they say speak to your dealer because you didnt buy the car from us (I Brought the car from a mazda dealer) I speak to the dealer and they say speak to mazda I just go round in circles it's a joke.

Sale of Goods Act is quite clear that your "contract" is with the place that took your money, so it is the dealer. Search a few other forums or get advice from Trading Standards about the correct procedue for rejecting the car.
I am similarly fed up with mine after two years, but am stuck with it until I find something else that I want - and it won't be a Mazda.

you had that many problems with yours? Ours started the day the car was delivered when they delivered the car damaged (scratched dash and scuffed alloy) they point blank refused to replace the damaged parts only repair them the alloy is o.k but you can still see the scratch repair on the dash. I'm sick to the back teeth with them it's cost me £75 so far to insure courtesy cars (Yes i have to insure their car) when they bother to give us one while they try figure out what is wrong with it. I take it in to get things fixed only to find they haven't ordered the parts. like I said in my last post they have had it 5 days so far this time. I rang yesterday to see how they were getting on with it and when I could expect it back I could not believe it when they said the diagnostics have shown it to be a sensor fault I had to laugh when I told the guy you've already changed the sensors and it didn't fix it "oh" he said i'll tell the tech. They haven't got a clue they just change parts and hope it fixes the problem. Oh and to top it off they gave me a FIAT punto as a courtesy car that ran out of petrol 3 miles up the road so i had to push it to the petrol station and thats in a worse state than mine (won't go in to second gear or start half the time amongst other things) and thats only done 1100 miles. I wont be buying another car from them as the after sales service is useless. I'm waiting for mazda uk to contact me to tell me if I can reject the car if they say no I see a law suit coming on because I've better things to do than spend my time in the dealership trying to get the damn thing fixed.

Firstly I will say that I have no problems with the dealer or courtesy cars from them, you seem to have got a particularly bad one. Any delays have been with the supply of parts from Mazda. My biggest problem is with the legendary clutch pedal click and to date it has had a new pedal box, new slave cylinder and new master cylinder. The click comes and goes as it pleases so will never be "fixed". I believe there is now a bulletin from Mazda on it, but it doesn't give a solution. There are several other issues with it that make me believe the build quality leaves a lot to be desired - a small and petty example being all 3 wiper blades splitting within 2 years which doesn't speak volumes when compared to my experience with previous cars. In all there are 5 or 6 things that annoy me about the car and I cannot see me keeping it beyond the warranty period. This is what "Honest John" has to say about rejecting a car www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights Have a read through that and other references. In summary I believe that you shouldn't be asking Mazda if you can reject it, you should be telling the dealer that you are rejecting it.

I was one of the original postees with this problem, link in 2nd email on this current post. My garage in Norwich were more than happy for me to tell them what the problem with the alarm was as discovered by other people with the same problem as it saved them a lot of unnecassary work. They actually took the relevant part off another car they had in the showroom to make sure it was the cause of the fault and hey presto it was fixed. You're not telling them their job, just saving them lots of work. This is the only problem I have ever had, now had the car seven months, and once this was solved have had problem free motoring and loving my Mazda 2. Persevere, its worth it in the end

got the car back today after 6 days they fixed some problems. they claim that there is nothing wrong with the mpg even though the car clearly shows 24.3 mpg on the average fuel consumption read out. they claimed to have fixed the alarm but soon as i got home and locked the car the alarm went off so i've got to take it back again tomorrow. this is becoming a joke I am going to be doing some ranting tomorrow morning in the dealership. Don't get me wrong I love the car one of the best cars i've ever driven. even the best manufactures have problems no one can expect that they will never have problems with a car they are mass produced remember my problem is with the dealer they either cant fix or don't know how to fix the problems with my car. i just want my car fixed or replaced

I went back to mazda today the car played up right in front of the mechanic and he looked puzzled as to what it was doing and why he put it on the diagnostics and all sorts faults came up. He rang the mazda tech support line and they said they know about the fault but they don't know what causes it and don't know how to fix it send us the details of the car including milage and we will get back to you when we get a fix for it. But going through threads on this forum this problem has been going on for nearly a year so what the hell are mazda doing about it and further more why are they selling cars that they know are faulty.

Hi Have you read my post of 12th April in "Technical Section" - "Vehicle Electrics" - Problem with car alarm. It seems to be all about getting the correct new alarm control unit which is made for your exact model. Wrong one won't cure it and there seem to be several versions of it floating around the dealers.

Thanks johnmag I have read your posts. The dealer said yesterday after they rang tech support that there is no cure at the moment and they are working on it and they were to send my vechiles details to them and would be in contact when they found a cure. My car is 2 months old and I gather this has been going on since middle of last year they should not be selling these cars with faults they cannot fix I rang mazda uk yesterday and asked them the very same question they are supposed to be getting a manager to call me today but so far no phone call. I feel the sales of goods act coming on because i've had enough me and my partner have lost 10 days off work so far taking the car to the garage we work for the NHS and we cant just turn up whenever so we have to take the whole day off.
Great car crap customer service

This will probably be the kiss of death but we have had our Sport now for 15 months and no problems at all - done 13k miles - only thing I took it back for was about tow bar - when I plugged trailer in it didn't beep when indicators were on -first time they said it was ok second time we went round to tow bar shop and they said it doesn't beep only when a bulb goes on trailer -Thanks for telling me !!!!- totally different from all other Mazda's I have had. Our fuel consumption is running about 40mpg - more if you do a long run. Wife is very happy with it - me I hate manual cars so it's nice to get back in my big Auto Mazda. -- I am more likely to get done for speeding in 2 as it's like a go cart.

We have today delivered a letter formally rejecting the car so we are awaiting the response from the dealer. We have just had enough of running back and forth to the dealer for problems they just cant seem to fix the straw that broke the camels back was they have managed to scratch the bonnet when they had it in earlier this week not just one scratch the whole passenger side of the bonnet is covered in scratches. I wondered why it was covered in dust and they hadn't washed it when they gave it back considering I had washed and waxed it the day before it went in to them in the hope they would clean it this time instead of giving it back covered in dirty finger marks. Well it's down to the dealer and Mazda to sort out now we have the finance company and consumer direct on our side as we have had to inform them that we are rejecting the car and the reasons why as well. so hopefully they will just replace the car without a fight the salesman informed me that they had to replace a fiat with similar problems last week so fingers crossed. I just want to enjoy the car that I have paid for without the hassle without I am having now I made it quite clear that I want a replacement not a refund and that I'm not one of these people trying to get a refund because they don't like the car. I want to LOVE my Mazda 2 but it's very hard to love a car that is giving me so many problems.

Hi All
Been having the same problem since I bought my car back in September 2009.
Took my car into the dealer regarding the problem last friday, and the lady i spoke to knew straight away what I was talking about , as they have had a lot of 2's coming in with the same problem.
She mentioned that Mazda were looking into it atm (possibly something to do with a replacement theft deterrent part from what i can remember) , and they were suggesting to all 2 owners with the problem to contact Mazda Customer Services , and let them know how unhappy you are about the problem. Hopefully the more complaints they get the faster it will get solved. Havent got the number to hand , but will post it when I do.

They're going to disable the alarm and issue the owner with a dog! Mine doesn't go off very often, but at the moment when it does I'm just ignoring it - it only seems to go off once, sounds for about a minute then just stops. I'll wait until Mazda have sorted themselves out with a proper cure before taking to be fixed.
