I've spoken to Mazda customer services they just refer you back to your dealership maybe they will get their act together if they get a few cars rejected. All I got off them was they are working on bulletin to inform dealers of the problem but it seems they still have no cure for the problem a bit like the clutch pedal issue some owners are having they have issued a bulletin but gives no cure. Our alarm goes off every time we lock the car.

Hi all. Contacted Mazda direct. Had a letter back to say the fix has been passed onto Mazda Europe. How long does an alarm fix take. Surely they've been doing them for years. Come on Mazda its an embarassment now. Still waiting

Hi. I got my Madza 2 Tamura on 31st December 09 and the alarm problem has been on going since that night. Been to the garage 5 times now. Have had diagnostics checked, the component changed and after the garage having just had it for 3 days had a new module fitted. Just brought it home and sure enough locked it.... wawawawa..... AARRRGGHHHH getting nowhere fast. Paid for a brand new car which should have no defaults. Mazda are not delivering this..Only thing that keeps me sane is knowing I'm not alone.. Anyone got any updates on this problem??

Mazda claim the new module will fix the problem but I really think they are just hoping they have fixed it I'm in the process of rejecting my car because i'm fed up with all the problems i've had with mine.

hi everyone just been looking at your site and decided to log in. i had my sport on the first of march 2010 brand new, after a couple of days i noticed the alarm went off about 20 seconds after i locked the doors. i returned to my dealer who told me there was a problem with the system, and it was not worth having it in because they have had one in before and changed parts but not conkerd the problem.they had contacted mazda by email and where waiting for mazda to repley. i was not happy! on return home i rang mazda asist and spoke to a very nice lady who took the details of the problem which they new about. she told me some one will ring me back in 15 mins i thought ye! but to there words someone from the tec side rang back and said i will be contacted within 5 working days to get it sorted. 4 days later they rang to say my dealer would be ringing me as they have sent a new modual to them. i was contacted 2 days later to bring it in took it in next day had fitted, service manager said to me i dont know how you have managed to get that they are like gold to get hold of up to yet been ok fitted 3 weeks ago no problems my advice is ring mazda assist if you have a new one .

Well after putting up with the alarm for another month, I finally had enough and went down to Hendys. After a good rant at the service guys for refusing to try anything until Mazda gave them an answer. I eventually was told to speak with sales as they were the ones that technically miss sold me the car. One strong e-mail to the head of sales later (basically saying that if it wasn’t fixed within two weeks then I would start proceedings to get my money back) and all of a sudden they managed to find a control unit the next day. The part was fitted and all seems to be good at the moment. I just can’t believe that I almost had to reject the car in order to get them to do anything. I’m still not happy with the inconvenience so I won’t be taking my car there for its service, someone else can have my money. I guess if you shout loud enough then someone will hear you, seems wrong though.

With the number of cases that we have on this forum , anyone else think it may be worthwhile taking this problem to someone like Watchdog - who may be able to kick Mazda up the rear and try and get it sorted sooner?

Yea I like the sound of that, I think we should compile a list of the most common problems and see how many have been rectified (or not)

Any more recent news on the faulty alarm issue? Mine is still showing the problem - seems to be completely random, nothing to do with temperature or atmosphere, whether the car's on the flat, how much time between unlocking and locking again, etc. But it does only go off the once, about 30 seconds after locking - alarm lasts for about a minute, no lights flashing, then self-cancels.

Success !!!
I rang Mazda customer services last monday - and received a call from my local mazda dealer on the tuesday , saying they had the part in stock that should fix the problem.
Got it fitted on wednesday , and haven't heard the alarm go off since.
As always with call centres , how well you are treated depends on who you get to speak to

Have had the faulty module replaced by the very nice folk at Lodge Garage on the A41 near Aylesbury today. Yer man said they've been waiting for months for the modules to come in, but they're obviously filtering through now so if anyone still has the problem, get it in under warranty.

Finally after sending a very stong letter to Mazda my dealer fitted a new alarm module last Wednesday and all good so far. Its great to lock my car and just walk away not having to think 'is it going to go off or not'. I'm at last a happy Mazda owner!
