Have I got this completely wrong or has the insurance group for the Mazda2 been bumped higher?

That might explain why my insurance quote for the 3rd year was the same as the second year?

I am sure it was 4 when I bought it. Now it seems to be 11 (judging by Mazda.co.uk and the insurance numbers on there)?

Have I got this wrong? Huh?

Actually, it was 42 quid a month for the second year but was supposed to be 58 or something for jan 2010 onwards.

In order to give themselves a greater range of groupings, the insurance companies are changing from 20 groups to 50.

In order to be where they were on the scale in 20 groups, the grouping should have increased by two and half times.  So 20 times 2.5 is 50.  The TS2 should have gone from 4 to 10, so 11 indicates that it has gone up slightly - however I think it was a 4 in past due to the security features, when it should have been a 5.

That is very roughly what has happened.
