After having my car serviced yesterday i thought everything was ok, i rang my main dealer where i bought my car from and asked if i needed to go to mazda for service to keep warranty, they told me i didn't have to and that i could go to any garage as long as its VAT registered and uses genuine mazda parts and follws their strict service rules.

so i follwed their advice got it serviced yesterday, but i have been having issues with my rear passenger window with very high wind noise, so i took it into my local dealer today and they told me i couldn't have the work done on warranty because it was out of its service period, i told them it had been done yesterday and the invoice was in the booklet, he looked and told me he would have to contact mazda to get it confirmed and contact me.

feeling rather annoyed i came home and rang the number on back of service record booklet and explained the situation to them, they told me my warranty was still in tact and to contact the dealer to see what they say, so i did and they told me mazda has authorised the warranty work and would contact me when the parts come in and to get my car booked in.

i don't get why they have such issues with this whole digital service record, the book stamping was much easier, so if anyone feeling confused, you don't have to go directly to mazda, you can go elsewhere as long as its vat registered and uses certified mazda parts, and you keep the invoice for the work that was done.

its a 3door TS2, ive had the problem since picking it up but never realised until about 2 months ago it was coming from the window, because i only hear it at 50mph and above, luckily i have no other issues as yourself, apart from the wind noise lol

There is some European legislation that says you no longer need to stick to servicing during a new car's warranty period - anti-competitive practice or something like that. Personally, I'd still take it to an authorised Mazda workshop since only they can keep the digital service record up to date (I would guess), which is something that could affect the car's long-term value.

i have also had the wind noise since new and i think another couple of members with 3drs have but i can only notice it at motorway speeds which i don't use very often hence that's why was waiting until the service have they said what might be causing it as i could point them in the right direction when it goes in Smiley

Hi, we had issues with the digital stamping when the previous dealer decided to enter in the 1st service we'd had done twice, thus it looked as if the 2nd service had been performed an hour later. We then had to ring Mazda to get them to undo that stamp, after they'd confirmed it with the original dealership first. The good thing about digital stamping is it can stop forgery, however nothing is foolproof when it comes to human error.

This is true, but as you say in your explanation of the problem you had, it can be a pain when something isn't done right, but tbh i think the digital record is a con to get people who don't know any better to go to Mazda only, and thus make more money, because i wouldn't have known myself if i had not looked on here, i would have just gone to Mazda and paid about 50 or 60 pound more than what i actually paid at the garage i went to.

as for the forgery idea, yea ok so maybe it does stop that, because even though i had my service invoice, Mazda will still contact that garage and check up on it to make sure its a legitimate garage....so really book stamping would be the same would it not? still have to check the garage is real???

Hi, well the first dealership lost the franchaise anyway, they were pretty poor for us all round and messed up a few things. Surely as long as you are using Mazda parts you should be ok under the warrenty anyway, at least that what my Ford one states...

hey there, just letting you know my mazda went into garage today for my passenger rear side window to be fixed, ill get my m2 back on tuesday so when i pick it up ill ask what it was and i will post what they say, also past say week or so noticed steering become very heavy and sluggish, anyone have an idea as to what this could be, ive done pressures and the tread is still good, just weird how its only just started happening, oh and weirdly my cig lighter went haha mentioned that to them when i dropped car off, hope they fix that, also with relation to another post in this forum regarding the windscreen bonding, mine has started making weird creaking and cracking noises from left pillar so i also mentioned that to them aswell. tbh im really starting to be put off by all these issues, especially when jap cars are supposed to be of better quality, well so they say.

ok, ive been and collected my mazda today, unfortunately i couldn't find out what they had done for the window because the mechanics were busy with other jobs it seemed, only spoke to reception, so if you have the same issue i suggest you just keep on at your dealer or go to a different one if you have to. hope this thread helped Smiley
