Hey guys,

I just bought some 'alloygators' which protects my m2 sport from wheel defects caused by kerbs or scuffs to the rim of the alloys. For only £45 (set of 4) it's definitely worth looking into because it costs £50 to repair one kerbed wheel.

Take a look at their website www.alloygator.co.uk

Hi, have you fitted them yet, if so were there any problems?

Am expecting delivery next week - hopefully shouldn't be too hard to fit them. The instructional video on the website showed them deflate the tyre first and then slot the rubber in between. Only bit that I'm worried about is the rubber mallet - they used that to force it in. However it should be fine because it got a good review in autoexpress, which is where I first found it.

Silver Alloygators fitted on 16" wheels.

I had to get them fitted by a local garage (kwik fit) because I didn't have the necessary cutting tool to trim the plastic to the correct size. Although the colour of the product doesn't quite match up to the silver colour of the alloys, its close enough to disguise itself pretty discreetly as seen below. In my opinion it looks quite nice on the wheels - makes the rims look a bit bigger. The Alloygators only become more noticeable on a more front ended view as it sticks out from the wheels.

So far I have had them fitted for over a week and travelled about 350 miles (including motorway) and have had no problems. Overall I think its quite a good addition if you want to protect your rims.

What was included in the package? I thought that the equipment needed was included!

The package only contains the 4 plastic rims for protecting the alloy.

You need a jack, tyre inflator, rubber mallet, pencil (marking) and garden secateurs to install it. It's a bit of a hassle if you don't have the garden secateurs - even a Stanley knife won't cut it.

Instructions are shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDoqwkld6jU

Hi Guys,

Just a brief note on the VIDEO ... why did the alloy wheel on the video have no wheel nuts on it ... was it just being hand pushed along the curb ?

Many high performance tyres have built in rim protectors ... like the Dunlop SP Sport 2050 tyres (195/45R16) I have on my Mazda 2

http://cornerbalance.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/fs-dunlop-sp-sport-2050-2254018-100-miles-cheap/photo3-3/

These are standard fit on the Australian Mazda 2 Genki ... nowhere near as good as as the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on my Mazda 6.
