ok... had the 2 now for 8 days, tomorrow i need to use the sat nav for the first time.  Where do people put theirs? I'm just worried about the shape of the windscreen and the location of the lighter socket.  as anyone used an alternative mount and if so how have you got on with these??

Thanks!

while borrowing my mums tom tom last weekend we found that without the charger socket in it, it wedges nicely up against the front window and stays put

We got a TT and bought one of those big round bean bag things with TT bracket on it - it just sits on dash board to left of speedo cluster - it has a tacky base and is heavy and never moves - just pick it up shove it under seat - no sucker marks on screen. good if you want to spend about £15
Similar to this but has a dedicated TT bracket on it.

thanks for the replies.  Think I will look at the beanbag or the attachment that goes on the air vents.  My partner just got a tt (didn't like me outshining him I think!) but he has built in sat nav, therefore I will get a bit more use of it now so thanks for ideas.

The beanbag type thing mentioned earlier is a NavMat: http://www.navmat.co.uk/shop/product.asp?P_ID=121

The great thing about these is that you don't leave the tell-tale suction-cup marks on your windscreen that tells car thieves there might be a satnav hidden somewhere in the car.

I leave my satnav mount on the NavMat in the boot, and bring it out when I want to use my satnav. I think they're great.

What's the purpose of the bean bag bit, is it just to add weight?

I might get myself one of these if they really work well as I'd rather mount it on the dash than the windscreen.

Yeh it's to add weight, and the underside is rubberised to provide grip on the dash. They're very good. Cheesy
