I have had my Mazda 2 TS2 for 2 years now and would like to share my experience. I think the car drives very well, is nippy, and economical. But I have a few niggles. After 6 months it was recalled for something to do with the rear N/S wheel bearing. I had not had any problems but the dealer did something anyway. ^ months later and it was due for its first service at a mere 4,800 miles. I was surprised when I was told that the rear N/S wheel bearing was worn and needed replacing. This was done under the warranty so no worries, just one of those things. However, this needed repeating at its second service a few weeks ago having done just short of 11,000 miles in total. Next was that a plastic part of the blower system fell off two weeks ago. They put it back on free of charge saying that it sometimes happens if you catch it with your feet. Mine are big, but it is tucked away so I do not know how this can happen. Yesterday another part fell off, this was a metal bracket of sort which appears to be something to do with the heater/blower system as well. I also had a problem with a noisy blower which sounded like a ticking sound - something I have seen elsewhere on this forum so maybe it is a common problem. This happened in the first year of ownership, but the dealer replaced the motor no quibble under the warranty. I think it was something to do with the bearings on the motor. However it is going back to the dealer again next week to have another new motor fitted as the same problem has recurred.

The first problem I had was after only two weeks of ownership when both the front tyres burst at 30 mph. I claimed off the tyre manufacturer and he reimbursed me the cost of the replacement tyres as there was a fault in them which had caused the rubber to split across the tread.

I always buy cars from new, and expect a few teething troubles, but I have never had as much problem as this. My other car is a Mazda 6 TS and has been faultless.

The Mazda 2 TS2 was to replace my 4 year old Fiesta. I have to say it is a much better car than the Fiesta, even the new one which I tried before buying the Mazda. However the niggly things will make me think hard before buying another one. Maybe I have been unlucky but it does make me suspect that the build quality might not be as good as it should be.

Our 2 TS2s are just over 2 years old and my summary of them is that Mazda have a really good car on their hands, but the ownership experience has been ruined by niggly build quality issues that should never happen.  One of ours is waiting for replacment rear bearings, again a second replacement - and it seems to always be a minimum of a month for parts to be obtained.  Both cars have had the boot release button replaced, again there was a wait of over a month!

Add in the other issues reported on these forums and the car is let down by Mazda themselves.  There are many on here with problems with the alarm that have occured from new, with nothing being done for ages.  Corrosion of the alloy wheels seems a known Mazda problem and has been for years.  I am in danger of going on and on, so I'll leave it there!

The ticking sounds from the ventilation blower thing could be a leaf stuck. I've had it twice. First time it was rectified with some sort of ...modification. The error was known.

The second time it happened despite having the modification fitted.

Also obviously had the grinding noise from the back.

Now thirdly it seems i have an issue with the heating dial. When I turn it to 10 o'clock it almost gets stuck (as if there is something wrong with it). I can force it through further to the right but it feels like something is going to break. Then it works fine after that again but I am definitely taking it back to the garage when I have time.

I guess you mean when turning clockwise?  Ours do that too, though never so bad to think it will break.  Its seems worse when it is cold or when the vents are cold (with aircon on).

The plastic fan thing has fallen off mine too. Annoying.

Front brakes are constantly gripping from the start for over 3 years. cwap

Same with mine.

I have noticed now that my wing mirrors dont close at the same time, the right is slower. Started over the weekend.
