hi there, im currently in the process of saving some cash for some new tyres, so i need some questions answering before i decide what to get etc. can i put the front wheels onto the back as my front tyres look like they got low tread, not at minimum yet, but im thinkin if i put them on the back it buys me some more time to get 2 new ones because i cant buy all 4 at once, im getting 2 at first n then 2 in a couple of month, now are the wheels weighted at all or can i just swap them over issue free??? any help would be appreciated chris

you can just swop them each wheel is balanced individually so you shouldn't have any problems
it is recommended that you rotate your tyres anyway so you get even wear across all 4 tyres.
just make sure rear left goes on front left and front left goes on rear left etc. this so the tread patterns are the right way round else the tyre will overheat.

ok cheers, now which tyres would be best for me im doing a lot of miles so far ive had it roughly a year and done 15000 miles, lot of motorway and just general driveing, im thinking them toyo TR-1's, the standard toyos i got on the car are good for wear time but the road noise is its let down. i do have a budget though, of say 60 maybe 65 per tyre, so what would the mazda community reccomend for me.......?

I always ask a independent tyre fitter not kwikfit etc as they have an agenda to sell certain tyres. goodyear eagle f1's were good when I had them on a previous car.

Rotating (crossing) the wheels has stopped with the new tires as angy_g said. At 20000km service I had the front wheels switched with the two at back but keeping the left to the left and the right to the right.

I'd have no hesitation recommending Goodyear Eagle F1's (GSD3 tread pattern). I bought them for my previous ST170 and Zetec-S before that, and I certainly found them to my liking! Are the Toyo's that come on the M2's directional, stopping them from being rotated (crossed)? I though they were not but will have to go and take a look now!

ok well will the size difference on the goodyears not matter, because the toyo's are 185/55 but the goodyear's are 195/45 and they have a less speed rating, not that my car will go as fast at the tires rating is lol but im just wondering, lots of people are also saying the TR-1's from toyo, i don't know lol

I'm pretty sure goodyear will do i tyre that will fit them my tyre size is 195/45 R16 but i have the sport. Like I said speak to an independent tyre fitter they will always point you in the right direction it really does depend on what type of driving you do.

ok well ive had a few recomendations to the toyo tr1 proxies, now my only problem is, they 195/50/15 when the standard toyos that come with the mazda are 185/55/15 so will the extra width and less profilemake any diference, will t still fit the standard 15" alloys that come with the ts2??? dont want to buy them and realise they are to wide lol

no they wont fit if you alter the profile of the tyre your speedo will not read correctly as they calibrated to the diameter of the wheel and tyre
