Hi Guys,

Could anyone tell me if there is a standard cost for the first service of my Mazda 2 TS2?  I have been quoted £211.00 by my dealer - which I think is really expensive!!! Is this a standard cost that all dealers will charge?  Do I have to get my service done by my own dealer? I bought the car on a finance deal if that makes any difference!

Thanks in advance!

That does seem expensive to me!

I have just paid £130 for the 1st service on my 1.6Diesel Sport at the dealer where I bought the car. The nearest Mazda dealer to me wanted £180 so worth driving a little further to save £50.

Our Sport's first service was £130 -- I should ask around a few Mazda dealers first.  --

My local dealer quoted £148 for my 1.5 sport.Which is a joke. I have been in the motor trade 30 years and would have serviced the car myself  If it did not compromise the warranty. The time allowed for the service is 0.8 of an hour. Oil and filter and visual checks + top up levels. I bought the oil filter and sump washer from them.Oil from unipart, local garage did the work Service schedule followed to the letter  £75 all in. You can have the car serviced by any Vat registered garage using quality parts. I would recommend always a genuine oil filter.

Before you all come back looking to clobber me, I'm in no way standing up for Mazda, but.....

As part of the service Mazda do a full body inspection to check for signs of early rust. By going elsewhere you're not giving Mazda the opportunity to do this.

Whilst my car is within it's 3 year parts/labour warranty I'll be taking my 2 to the local dealer.

The full price of my service tomorrow is £199.91 - but there was a 25% discount code on their website for all services carried out in May, but that's still £150 !! Expensive when you consider it's just an oil/filter change and a quick inspection.

Paid £171 for !st service, was surprised this did not include removing rear drums to dust out,,,is this normal? they also put down 500ml screenwash although it was nearly full, which I thought strange.

Worth ringing round and checking, also if your dealer is part of a larger group of several dealers, ring the group up, I did that and got £50 of the same dealer I was going to go to anyway. If that makes sense...

Before I placed the order for my Tamura I asked what the cost of the services were at my dealer in Torquay.   He pointed to the wall chart which gave a fixed price of just under £98 for the first one, £140 for the second and I think it was about £130 for the third.

Before buying any car I always ask the servicing costs to see what the comparision is between the cars I am considering.

Paid £140 for first service on my sport but they wanted £100 to do the tracking I told them to jog on i'd get it done at ats for £30

Also what they say they do and what they actually do on a service are two different things.

Also what they say they do and what they actually do on a service are two different things.

You can say that again, I checked afterwards, the oil and filter had been changed, but I'm 90% sure they didn't change the air filter
Either that or they just decided to leave the dead leaves and crap in there...

I also haven't received comfirmation of my service record, this is from a service they'd done in august...

That they did wrong...

I love mazda, but hate their dealers
