My partner is about to order a new car to replace her 08 M2 and I'm wondering, aside from the salespersons word, how can I check it is actually a 2010 built car. With my Ford I can go to a website, punch in my vin number and it tells me the exact date it was born. Is there anyway I can check by the specs?
Cheers,
Chris

Hi, over 40 views but no help, surely someone knows what is different between 2009 to 2010 and can decode the vin number?

Hi, a brand new car registered 2010, I just want to make sure it isn't a 2009 built one thats been in stored in a field. From my searches on the 'interweb' I'm informed that it is the 10th character that denotes the year, however my Ford has a letter there and it is the 11th number that is an 8 = 2008, so I'm a bit confused.

well i can tell you they got no sports lying around I'm having my car replaced because of problems with it and the only colour they had was sunlight silver any other colour and I would have had to wait for it to come from japan.

Mazda 2's VIN judging from this doesn't tell the production year!

But this might be a little more helpful?

Hi, I'll let you all know how long the dealer quotes if we clinch the deal tomorrow, we probably will unless they insist upon Gap or Supagard...

Hi, as my partner wanted icy blue, thus, according to the dealership, they are a rarer colour, the car is coming over from Holland and the expected collection is on the 1st June. Quite impressive, however I will check for tullips in the exhaust, and any contraband hidden just to be sure  Grin Grin Grin
