The remote fuel door lever opens the fuel door no problem but when I push the door closed it won't close. This is my wife's car which I've never had to refuel before so I've no idea how it used to behave but it looks like the 'bolt' remains in the out position and the 'catch' on the back of the door jams against it. I see that the 'catch' has a slight angle on it which suggests that it's correct that the bolt be in the out position and that you just need to push the door closed to allow the bolt to slide into the catch (although my wife insists she's never had to apply the amount of effort she now needs to slam the door closed and is worried that she's going to break something).

Question - Should the 'bolt' be in the out position when the door is open? Do you just need to slam the door shut to lock it? Do I just need to apply some lubricant to the bolt/catch mechanism?

Thanks

Hello happened to me also.
You can screw it out and back again but it won't solve it. Forcing the cover also will bend the clip.
I took it to the dealer and put some grease and now it's ok.
