Hey, I own a 14.d ts. And as far as everything goes, their quite good. As is expected with most diesel engines, performance is not a sport quality, but for a 1.4 engine it packs a punch. Fuel economy on it, is really good aswell, I average a 40 mile journey everyday, to university and back, as well as that, I am a part time delivery driver doing on average and extra 5 miles per day, I fill up £30 which will fill the tank, and that will last me the duration of the week. Theres no problem hitting decent speeds with it either, I have never really experienced lack of power when needed most.
Replacement parts are quite cheap, as long as you dont buy from mazda, and they come with toyo tyres as standard so that always a plus.
As long as you can deal with it sounding like a white fan, its a really good car.
No idea on timing belt, im at roughly 40k now, and i havnt experienced any problems, no doubt i will after saying that though

thanks for the reply gareth. The car i am looking at is 2 and half yrs old with 40k on the clock. Seems a nice wee car to drive. Does your car have air conditioningas standard as i the one i looked at has no air con.

Ahh right, mines roughly that age now. It is a nice car to drive, ideal for zipping in and out of town. And what with the car being quite small getting through tight spaces inst a problem.

Mine does have air con, but not as standard, when it was bough it was the ts model but the dealer that owned it had top of the range equipment fitted, not to the extent of the sport, but near enough. I find that my air con has proved invaluable, as my windows are prone to condensation, and the air con clears it right up.
