We was told the CVT would arrive in March '09 but we haven't had any news on that for about 9 months now. I think it's likely to come one day but we don't know when as for the 1.3 engine have you seen the mpg these cars give? Those clips you have found are pre-production press ads, Mazda Japan are using the same engines as us. Therefore pre-production rumours
Mazda Japan are selling the 1.3 engines we have in the UK but I think you will also find they are selling the CVT model with the Miller cycle engine. See
http://www.mazda.com/publicity/release/2007/200707/070705.html - according to that the 13C-V model has CVT and a Miller cycle engine achieving 23.0 km/L which I reckon is 65 mpg. That press release is dated when the 2 went on sale in Japan so I would think it's accurate and the figures match up with what's showing on the Japanese mazda site (
www.mazda.co.jp) if you select the Demio model (their 2).
Interestingly there are a few of the 13C-V models being imported to the UK if you search on autotrader. I think it's only a question of time before we see this model in the UK officially given the move to more efficient cars.
