I'm not sure about this one... I've heard that cars these days don't really require too much running in before your "allowed" to go at higher revs? I'm getting my Mazda 2 tomorrow so I don't know what to do... ~BRio

Indeed I also heard that parts are tested before and can handle stress from the beginning! But most dealers advise you not to stress the car untill 3000km!

Welcome...
...and yeah, what angelos says. As has been posted on here you will notice a big difference once the enigine has covered 1500 to 2000 miles. You should always let the engine warm up before ragging it anyway.

Nah, it's in the middle of an industrial estate. I wouldn't do it in a populated area.

It's better to leave the engine to work a little bit low before revving it high when you start it! The new Punto has a warning beep when you push it hard immediately after switching it on! It's a fiat so guess why ;P When I'm not in a hurry I also leave the engine to work a little bit before turning it off just to calm down gently

Oops, I wheelspun mine up the road by work today Mine is a bit difficult to spin now, I upgraded to 17" 205/40 size.....just to much grip (and they are a bit heavier than the standard wheels I had on.)

Hi, should you be able to spin the wheels on sport anyway, it has some kind of traction control doesn't it? Besides I would have thought the only result of spinning the wheels would be too prematurely wear out your tyres and put great strain on the drive componants... Chris

You should use the wisely and avoid wheelspinning them since they are heavier to avoid any problems later on

I have the South African version...they actually call it the Individual (it does not have traction control).... I am actually just having a joke with you guys, I will never in my live spin my wheels intentionally....Tyres are expensive and drive componets as well ! I did however spin my wheels by mistake once , I just bought the car and I was not use to the clutch ! (These Mazda 2's has very "light clutches")

I'm still struggling with the clutch on mine... Hence wheelspins. Mainly because the clutch on my old car was 6 years old and due a service... Wouldn't make a habit of wheelspinning because... Well I can't afford to burn petrol at the minute. Heh.

Yeah, the clutch on mine is still very new to me- I keep stalling. But yeah hopefully that'll change when I've eventually run it in properly.. At ~110 miles right now, only another... Many miles to go!
