the price of a fiesta 2nd remote key- 30 quid!! shame on you mazda at 170, that is a pure rip off.[/quote]

Going slightly off the topic of the new model when you said a replacement key will cost £30.00 & being a sales manager for a Mazda dealer my thoughts were buy your keys from that dealer as they are the cheapest keys in the world! So i phoned a very good mate of mine who is the parts manager of a local ford dealership to ask about the cost of a replacement key. He said the blade is £30+vat then the central locking bit was £65+vat then coding+Vat.

For those who are interested i just thought i'd put you all in the picture, I am also based in a little town in wales so the key price will vary & will go up in larger area's where the overheads are larger.

price of 2nd REMOTE key in fiesta price list is 30 pounds. if they quote this figure then try and charge again for the remote function seems a bit odd to me. either way 170 from mazda is way too much.

1st off i am not trying to start an arguement, But where do they quote this price? It is possible they do it as a factory option which would make sense but the price i have quoted is for a replacement key. I can tell you any replacement key will cost a damn site more than £30! We are VW, Mazda & Peugeot so due to my position i need to know costs so i can tell you i know my onions!

The other thing is as i said this is a short term problem for Mazda as the 2nd remote key WILL be FREE of charge on new stock in January, Purhaps Ford will do that given time?

But getting back on topic this is about Mazda launching a Diesel Sport, A new colour,  2nd remote key in January '09

The other thing is this is a site for fans of the Mazda 2 & i contribute accurate as possible facts for those who either own or want to buy a Mazda 2. People who want the fiesta go a join a Fiesta owners club & tell them you dont want the 2 & you plan on buying a Fiesta.

I hope i haven't spoken out of turn i just think it's for the good of the forum that i get it said!

So you are saying that we will get a second remote in exchange for our normal one? Or only new buyers that time?

Sadly Angelos i couldn't comment on cypriot cars but new cars that arrive in the UK during January will include x2 remote keys.

Any chance of a price reduction for existing owners on second keys?

Indeed there are some dealer differences, sometime good but somtime bad as I suspect will be about the key :/

Hi, I don't know if anyone has noticed but the new Fiesta model Zetec S and Titaniums actually come with a second remote key as standard. With all the ones that don't, and you purchase a second fob, and, unless you have the knowledge to do it yourself, you will have to pay extra for Ford to program it, that will add to the cost...

Hi, well d3wey, seeing as this seems to aimed at me, but if I'm wrong I apologise. As I am actually a Ford Mondeo owner, it is my partner that owns the Mazda, I will probably show a bias towards a Ford and will continue to do. However, overall, I think I have positve contribution towards this forum and have actually tried to keep the middle ground as much as possible. If other people in this forum think I should not be here then take a vote on it.
I also think it is very fair to compare both cars, seeing as they more or less come from the same stock, if the madza2 cannot be given constructive criticism anyway then I would be disappointed in this forum....

Chris this wasn't aimed at you!

Chris you do contribute alot to this forum & i agree you need contructive critism, The truth of the matter is Mazda are listening & hence the future introduction of the free 2nd key, colour changes & a new model. I was talking about mstone i am sorry if this wasn't made clear. You corrected me earlier on in the post & i am glad you did. I do not believe in telling lies i am a straight guy & i like correct information.

I also want to make it clear that i am not asking people to leave this forum, I want to see it grow! i am huge fan of the 2 ( I often take one home instead of my 6 ) & My girlfriend owns a 2.

Sorry if i have caused offence to anyone it wasn't my intention
