Hi, I've found my 2 sport gives an average of just under 37mpg,(4 fills to brim) not bad as a lot of my journeys are short, 2-5 miles often in traffic with the odd longer run on a roads. I leave the auto climate on all the time so i'm not complaining. The readout is generally 1-2mpg more optimistic. Leaving the trip set to show current consumption helps keep the right foot light.

Hmm maybe they put a Sport-engine into my TS2 then as I am getting 37 and doing short journeys 7 miles to work and 7 miles back. Half of it at 70 mph. Crap.

What the fakk. I just re-filled mine again but it is still only giving me 36.8 MPG. I wonder if the brakes are messing my consumtpion up. The other day I heard a small noise when coasting, as if the brakes were actually on a bit. I think I need to have it checked again. Goddamnit.

Had my 2 sport almost a week, covered about 340 miles averaging 39mpg. Mixture of town driving and A roads.

Hi the fuel consumtion is generally high on a new car whilst being run in, i dont really pay attention to that kina stuff, but ive covered 7000 miles in mine already and it seems to be getting better, mazda can update the software of your ecu, which sometimes on some models does help, im a tech in a mazda dealer and have had a few complaints but updated the software and told the customer to put some more miles on, and it should improve, hope this helps

Hi - I agree - my petrol consumption is way down on the figures quoted.  I'm not sure how to work it out exactly but I'm paying double for fuel compared to my last car.    Sad

You work it out the following way.

1. Fill your fuel up to the max.
2. Reset the trip meter
3. Drive for 200 miles or so (or until you think you should re-fuel it).
4. Record how far you've gone
5. Fill the car up again and record how many litres you put in.
6. Divide the litres with 4.545
7. Divide the mileage with the number of gallon and voila - you got your MPG fuel consumption.

Mine was actually unusually rotten last time, down to 32 mpg after driving quite heavily (and 1200 miles on the engine).

Haha this is not fair. I did approximately 100 miles this weekend on the A1 to and back from Holy Island and Newcastle. I got 43.6mpg. To be fair I did push it quite hard and not exactly doing 70 all the way. I did get it to 100 at one point but that felt like its maximum speed. It still handled very good though, didnt really feel the speed at all. Very stiff chassis.

There must seriously be something wrong with my car with my flipping MPG.

I have a TS2 with 5,500miles on the clock and we get an average of 37mpg, I have to admit its taken a bit of a dive recently but I think we're not being as economical with the old right foot as much as we were to start with.

Still its loads better than my last car (2.0ltr FSI Seat Altea which would just drink petrol like there was no tomorrow).

Overall I'm very happy with the fuel consumption, we fill ours up every 8-9 days doing average of 300 odd miles a tank driving around town.

Interesting that you get 37 as well. It makes me feel a bit less cheated. I get approximately 230-240 miles with 32 litres put in. With full tank maybe 300 then.

Hi, I just bought a 1.3 TS2 on Saturday. Glad to see it's not just me experiencing a very poor return on fuel consumption - all the motoring press are raving about the cheap running costs of this car, thought I had a faulty one!!

To be fair I have only owned it for 3 days...but I've used 7/8ths of the tank and it is looking like I will only get about 340 miles out of it which is a pretty disappointing figure, especially considering 90% of my mileage has been on uncongested motorways travelling at between 60 and 70mph.

If fuel consumption was anywhere close to the brochure quoted figure I would be expecting to achieve at least 480 miles on a full tank!! And seeing as most of my driving is on the extra urban cycle I would expect an even higher figure.

I came from a 2005 Mini Cooper that did 37mpg...starting to think the 2 was a big mistake! Just glad I didn't buy new...

Hi, well if the car is new it is still 'tight' and not run in, you are averaging 36mpg, hopefully you might find it improves over time Smiley

I'm getting roughly the same MPG and miles per tank as my old fiat panda 1.2 so far and the cars fresh out of the box so i'd hope that it will improve as the miles wear on.  I do wonder if with slightly lower powered cars you have to rev them harder etc just to keep up with the flow of traffic therefore reversing the benefit. I don't know if the this is the case with the 1.3...?
