Mine is a 1.5 sport. My lowest mpg has been 37.2 mpg average and my highest average 44.7mpg. Most if the time i drive around town and rev it a bit i.e 0-30mph in 2nd. It doesnt matter how i drive it it never drops below 37. I can live with 37mpg driving around town i think its quite good.

Yeah I noticed that as well. No matter how hard I drive it (within reason) - it doesnt damage my mpg much. Around 36 is almost as low as it goes if you drive hard on low speeds, but accelerate a lot. I think my car doesnt like to do 70 before it is properly warmed up. It can do in excess of 45mpg doing 70 miles per hour, but until it is really warm it prefers doing 60. Poor thing. I love the fact my new bicycle easily fits into the boot with seats down. Very handy. Lots of space left if i remove the front wheel too. I have mangaged to bump the bit just below the boot lid though, which turned out to be plastic.

Did 210 miles yesterday in my sport with most of it being on the motorway and half of those miles being restricted to 50/60 mph due to road repairs etc and managed to achieve 48.7 mpg. Not a bad result I thought.

Hi Gazr, That is the sort of consumption I would have expected the Sport to be able to achieve, driven steadily. I am sure a lot of our younger brethren must rev the valves out of their Sports, as we might have done in our youth, to only get consumption in the 30's in general use. Having read various posts on the fuel consumption of the Mazda 2, there does seem to be a considerable variation between individual cars and almost unobtainable generic fuel consumption figures. Thanks for posting. Colric

1.3 TS2. Mixed driving in a rural area, regularly getting 45mpg. Best has been low 50's on a mixture of A roads and Motorways, keeping to 70mph max.

Hi DC,
That is very similar to the consumption I am getting from my TS2. Extract from my comments on another thread.
' After 4020 miles, calculating the consumption between fill ups has given a worst of 40.5, a best of 54.8 after a 194 mile round trip to the North Yorkshire Coast and an overall average of 46.1. I usually drive at the top end of speed limits where possible, except on Motorways where 70-80 is my norm.' Colric

Hi Matt, Good on you. Once in your heart, even a car is very forgivable. One of my favourite cars was a Fiat Cinquecento Sporting. It was bought originally for my wife but ended up being driven mainly by me! It's engine just revved and revved and sounded great. It was obviously not fast but it was immense fun driving it flat out. BUT - it was only beaten for niggling faults by surprisingly my Toyota Avensis ( made in Derbyshire). Colric
A day out by ourselves at the Newark Air Museum. I ended up in an Americana event next door. It was like being in another country.

Thanks Angelos, The photograph brings back happy memories. I actually saw the car as recently as last year, being driven by an old lady who looked to be in her eighties. Although the Cinq is probably still alive, It would qualify for the Scrappage deal now! Cheers Colric
