Hi all,

My new sport arrived on thursday - only had 7 miles on the clock (never had a new car before!).

In brilliant black (as all cars look best in black).

If you look carefully you can see my other car in the reflection - a prize of smug satisfaction to whoever can tell what it is.

Indeed black colour needs special treatment in order to avoid scratches when you wash the car! I think the best color for mazda 2 is metropolitan grey  Cheesy

Hi chris - I know many people do cover the number plate - haven't figured out exactly why yet.

If I wanted to know a number plate I can walk past many cars in the real world with them on.  What exactly can someone use a car reg for?  Other than finding out what info the DVLA has it registered as (no personal details available)?

Hi, well I certainly do, as I said, as a precaution. It can indentify you, or whoever drives the car, for a start, I guess it's down to how paranoid you feel...

I always thought the number plate thing was to do with cloning and how having a picture and a plate someone can then make an exact clone of your car. but i've been wrong before...

PS- Great looking car BTW, very nice in black!

Black is best!

Someone walking down any road in this country will see cars with number plates on them.  They don't all get cloned.

As for linking it to me personally - you can't via a number plate - though I admit it links it to my anonymous username on here.  Maybe people will think denise richards drives this particular mazda 2.

Tis a fair point about anyone walking down the street. Good thing is there aren't exactly that many new 2's on the streets anyway. far easier just to clone a fiesta!

out of morbid curiosity what can anyone find anything out about my car (or me) from the reg number?

I've had a quick look on the net - and so far I have discovered my car is a 5 door mazda 2 hatchback.  I could pay to see if it's stolen, confirmed mileage etc.

Anyone find anything interesting?

Hi, it's really up to you whether you hide your number plate or note. Personally I feel you can't be too careful, crooks are always one step ahead of us and as the majority of posters do hide their plates I'd prefer to follow them.
I remember Jemery Clarkson boasting that no-one could rip him off if they had certain information about him. He posted up some of this information and sure enough he got done over...
