my 2 sport with blacked out windows and K&N.

« on: February 17, 2009, 11:44:58 pm »

i recenty bought a k and n high flow panel filter for my 1.5, just till they bring out an induction kit, im quit impressed with how much differance it make to the throttle response and extra power it kicks out, i was expecting a change but not this much from a panel filter, can wait for an induction kit to come out now, more power, better throttle response and get the added roar from the engine too with that fitted.

does anyone know if a differant company has one out already?
as k and n are just developing it now and will be out soon hopefully
(im just impatient lol)

thanks ppl.

K&N panel filter? You have it? I was thinking about it, don't cost much...is the difference really so feelable? Smiley

Does this void warranty? Or when you will take it for service you will change it back?

Doesn't void anything, it's a common part. (If we are talking about filter panel. How it is with complete K&N airkit, that I don't know...)

I would imagine it would would warrenty as it only fits in where the standard filter goes (I think...).

Benny, Was the differece all the filter or were you still runing the car in at the time? I'd be interested to see what the result on a rolling road would be.

hi ppl, the filter its roughly 45-50 quid from a k and n dealer, i take it out when i take the car back to the garage so they dont see it (to be safe with the warranty) my car is run in with 8000 miles on the clock, yes i can feel a differance in the performace, 1 thing i will say is if you have a heavy right foot like me lol it uses abit more fuel, id like to see a rollin road print out myself but im not willing to pay to have it done lol.

any more questions?

i will try and answer with the best of what i know

thanks ppl

Hi, I've been looking at getting one of these and have struggled to find one until now.
However, eBay has come up trumps again, I'm watching a seller who has a number of them for sale around £40.
I'll have to see what payday brings before I consider it. I'd also be interested to see RR results or something as well.

angelos,

the filter comes ready oiled to catch the dirt and dust, but you will have to buy the cleaner and oil to service the filter as it doesnt come with the filter

hi ppl,

mpg results for K&N panel filter vs standard panel filter in my 1.5 sport.

ive just done the 300mile(mainly motorway) trip back to the south east i had more weight in the car than the other day, so made the test quite fair by doin 150miles with the K&N fitted then swapping it, resetting the avg reading on the dash and then doin 150miles with the standard filter fitted.

i done 80mph with cruse control on (as i have a heavy right foot), with both filters to make it as fair as possible

K&N..                    @80mph for 150miles = avg 34mpg
standard..             @80mph for 150miles = avg 36.7mpg
both readings took from the avg mpg shown on the dash

these readings are for mainly motorway miles with quite abit of weight in the car, so goes without saying around town mpg will less

hope this helps to make your minds up to buy or not.

thanks benny.
