So, after about 10.000 km with K&N Air filter I can say:
1) no noise increasing
2) the power was increased very little, I think in about 3.500 rpm it has little bit bigger "push off"
3) fuel consumption goes down about 0.2 litres/100 km

So, I'm very satisfied with it.

Hmm...majki, what cost of this filter k&n and where to buy it?  Huh?

Vovan: simply on eBay, costs about 40 pounds the filter and 5 pounds shipping from UK to CZ

Ive got a K&N induction kit in my fiesta at the moment and i love the sound it makes but theres definitely been a negative affect on my fuel consumption and when i get my Mazda2 sport I'm not sure that i want to get the same for it but i would like a similar sound when i stick my foot down, any ideas on what to get? a subtle exhaust or something?  I like the fact that with the induction kit it only makes a real noise when you put your foot down and not when you merely turn the engine on for example.

also i haven't noticed any difference in performance with the K&N induction kit in my fiesta to be honest; only really kept it for the sound!

Can I just add that if you have or are going to fit a k&n filter you can't use the oil that they suggest to use as it can cause the air flow meter to bite out, the flow meter is a what they call a hot wire air flow meter and the oil can attach to it and cause it to get a hot spot and burn out, however you can still use the filter wash from k&n just make sure it is super dry before replacing it I run a k&n pod filter on my cold air intake which I fabricated to suit the 1. Hope this has helped
cheers Regan.

You mean that the filter as it is sold can cause problems? It is already oiled when you buy it!

That's strange since K&N test these filter's and are for specific models. I shall search more before I buy!

I think there is a lot of bad information when it comes to the use of K&N Air Filters - if anyone has taken the time to read the K&N website, they do a pretty good job of disproving claims that K&N Air Filters are detrimental to your car's health.

http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massairfindings.htm
http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/MAFTestresults.htm
http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massairpledge.htm

I use a K&N Panel filter on my M2 and I am not worried. Smiley

I have also asked the question to K&N in the past and this is what they said:

Hello

Thank you for your enquiry. Please see details below from K&N web site.

Regards

27. Will a K&N filter cause my vehicle's mass air sensor to fail?

No, it is both impossible and ridiculous.

It is impossible because we know that the oil treatment on our cotton is very small (usually less than 2 ounces).  Once the oil is properly and evenly absorbed through the cotton, no oil will come off, even under extreme engine conditions.  It is ridiculous, because no dealership or service provider has ever been able to provide us with evidence to support this "myth," and in fact, our investigations have revealed that even authorized dealerships are simply speculating and do not have the test equipment necessary to know whether the sensor has failed or why.  It is even more ridiculous because some car manufacturers use and sell air filters treated with oil on a regular basis.  There are also major brands of disposable air filters that are treated with oil.  We all use oil for the same reason, it helps in the filtration efficiency of an air filter.  For more information on this topic including videos, see our Mass Air Flow Sensor Statement page.

Out of the millions of air filters we sell, we only receive a handful of consumer complaints each month that a dealership or service provider has blamed a vehicle sensor repair on our product.  We take each complaint very seriously and see it as an opportunity to stop a consumer from being taken advantage of.  We investigate the situation thoroughly and take full responsibility for resolving the issue.  For more information on how we educate and persuade the service provider to reconsider their position, see Mass Air Flow Sensor Information & Testing.  We are so confident in our ability to resolve these situations and to help a consumer fight back that we offer our Consumer Protection Pledge.

As a result of our standing up for consumer rights and providing assistance to resolve a disagreement, we have had over 100 actual sensors sent to us by dealerships who claimed our product had caused them to fail.  Microscopic, electronic and chemical testing revealed that none of the sensors were contaminated by K&N oil (K&N Detailed MAF Sensor Test Results). What is perhaps the single biggest clue to what is going on is that over 50% of these sensors were not broken in the first place for any reason. Click here for more information on how this may happen.

Just fitted one of these to my 1.3 TS2 - K&N part number 33-2924

Took out the old filter, hoovered out the filter housing and fitted the K&N filter.

Not driven anywhere yet, but I'll feedback when I've done a few more miles.

How's everyone else getting on with theirs?

I hardly noticed any difference with the K&N filter apart from slightly poorer fuel economy. I reckon any performance enhancement is just psychological. I changed back to the original just before it was due its service and have left it like that since. Anyone want to buy a 2nd hand K&N filter?
