Hi all

Just about to buy a 2 sport 5 door, tried all the nippy small cars and the Mazda seems the best built even against the new Fiesta. A few questions

Does the car achieve the stated or close to the stated mph
Are there any issues I should be aware of.

Many thanks

Welcome smiffy!!!

It's a bit of a pain but have a good trawl around this site as theres loads of threads in this vein. My sports 6 months old with 7000 miles on the clock and averages 38mpg which is a wee bit of the stated figures But that includes alot of traffic driving, short trips and a slightly ( Grin) heavy right foot. If i'm careful and it's half term (less traffic) i've had it up to 45mpg.

Sounds like you've been busy test driving!

Hello Smiffy and welcome,
I get my Sport delivered on Thursday this week so can't comment much on mpg. I had a demo car for three days before I ordered mine and it achieved close to 50 mpg on the trip computer, but I did drive it gently over 140 miles, with 50 being on the motorway using the cruise control.
Have currently got a Mazda 3 that has a trip computer and having checked the mpg manually a number of times over a couple of years, the trip computer seemed accurate to within .5 to .75 mpg, so expect the 2s to be the same.
Will post my mpg when I've done a few miles. Gazr

Guys, coz I'm from CZ and we have litres per 100kilometers, could it be this used for conversion?
# UK : 1MPG = 282,48 l/100 km , so 45MPG = 6,28l/100km

Is it true?

Did you try the TS2 against the Sport? I ask because I am about to go out and try probably both and wondered if other people found much of a difference. The sensible part of me thinks the TS2, but I don't know whether it's a bit sluggish on motorways as some reviews suggest.

Cruising at 75miles/hour in a motorway is not a problem for the TS2! It can still accelerate with ease up to ~90 miles/hour!
At some hill you need to accelerate before the hill or you'll then experience what they say! Still a change to 4rth gear can do the difference! I am talking about stiff hills don't think every little hill you see on the road!
I have a TS2 and my avg consumption is 7.4l/100km and the stated from mazda for urban driving is 6.9! I mostly use it in town except some weekend trips!
I added as an extra the sport aero pack with out the fog ligths and with the normal head units-something like the tamura edition TS2!
So if I were you I'd go for a TS2 tamura edition which has the look of a sport and the consumption of a 1.3L!

I think I must agree with Angelos in this instance. Gazr

I have 1.3 86hp and on highway is no problem to go constantly about 150kph. Engine (when car is not well loaded) is hungry for accelerate to 180kph, for now my maximum is 195kph, but this is little bit crazy Cheesy. I don't have problems on highway, good acceleration, good speed keeping, and if something slows you down in the hill, you only gear down and push the gas pedal, don't forget that the best torque is between 3400-almost 6000rpm. And that the best gear for accelerating on highway is the 4!
My average consumption after about 19.000km is about 7.09l/100km. Mostly driven in city and on highway (and I'm not the slow one!). I think it's good result.

Hi all, thanks for the responses. That's really useful to know. I am planning on having a test drive soon so will see what used models they have as well as the new, and take it from there.  Grin
