I have a 2008 mazda 2 sport which has just gone into the garage to have its 25000 mile service, but when I received my car back from the dealer and had a quick look under the bonnet to see what work they had actually done for all that money, I was shock to see the same air filter which the car came with when I brought it. I was just wondering does anyone know if the air filter gets changed every service? Cause I am worried that I have been ripped off. And I know its bad to run the car with a dirty air filter. Hope someone can help thanks.

I had my 2nd service last month. They should have at least cleaned your existing air filter. A new replacement is due by the 3rd service.

When I had my 2nd service they didn't replace or clean my air filter.

I replaced the filter myself with one of the washable K&N filters.

My old filter was absolutely filthy, all grey and was covered in dead flies and seeds.

I'd certainly recommend a new filter to anyone who's done more than 20k miles. After my filter change I was able to pull away using lower revs, and there was far less hesitation - my car feels completely transformed. I certainly wouldn't recommend leaving the filter change to the 3rd service.

Hi Guys and Girls,

I have always used K&N Air Filters in all my new motor vehicles and motorcycles.

A one off expense will save you money over the life of the engine and actually improve the throttle response of your vehicle.
