Ok. I think engine is more important than trim.
Wow. Sport is most popular model in UK. Interesting....

sandy watch your mouth - I am a old guy with a big Japanese barge with cruise control so having it on our new Sport is nothing new - and coming back up motorway Tuesday I looked down at speedo thinking I was doing regulation oldie 60 and found I was only doing 85 - this little car is a right goer. I must be breaking the mold for over 60's dave

Actually I am 60, having a Sport and loved the cruise control when I tested a demo car over a long weekend. Perhaps there should be a different coloured badge for us oldies, who run Mazda 2 Sports? Gazr

Hi Guys, I was going to buy a Sport but was talked out of it by the salesman! He had just got back from Cornwall in a TS2 and was claiming 38mpg overall with 85+ on the motorways. Experience at the Franchise was that the Sport was 15-20% heavier on fuel than the TS2. With fuel prices reaching worrying levels at the time of my purchase, I decided to buy a TS2. I have been very happy with the improving performance over the last few hundred miles as now with nearly 3000 miles on the clock it revs freely and feels subjectively quicker than 12.9 secs to 62 mph. It averaged 43.4mpg for the last fill up which is virtually the car's average fuel consumption for the winter months. My last car was supposed to reach 62 in under 10secs and I have not really missed it yet. Honest John rated the TS2 Petrol the pick of the range, partly because it had the higher gearing of the TS but a bit more power. The handling is very sure footed and the space more than adequate for me and my wife and it is very comfortable. Still on days when the old hormones are up I wouldn't say no to a Sport and I do miss a trip computer. Even my wife's totally reliable old Citroen C2 LX has one. Some local Ape brain obviously thought my polished car looked too good, for when I got back to it today, from 10 mins shopping, it had been keyed down to the base coat, on the driver's and nearside passenger door. 3 coats of dyed wax and a top coat of triple wax have masked the damage and will have to do as I won't let the yobs force me into a respray. It is a shame Mazda do not offer sensors to electrocute the B's as an option. I think I should call the car 'Bluey' and like my three legged cat Blackie, in spite of the damage, I am still very fond of my TS2. Cheers Colric
