Hi all, new to the forum here Smiley

Just ordered my new Mazda 2 TS for collection on 30th April, I can't wait. I'm 33 years old and just passed my test and this will be my first car (currently hijacking hubbys Golf 130ps GT TDI when I can) I'd have loved the Sport or even the TS2 but my budget dictated my choice. If there is a decent scrappage scheme announced next week my stepdad will trade in his old Laguna and put it towards my car just means the paperwork is in his name and im registered keeper, with those extra fund I'm debating if I should just enjoy the saving and put it towards some alloys and my first years insurance or if I should upgrade to the TS2.

Any insights would be nice.

Everything I have read says the TS2 is much better than the TS so I would say it's worth the extra. Funnily enough I am 34 and have just passed so this will be my first car too.

If I can get a decent price I might go for the Sport, just debating that vs the TS2. The insurance is only 50 pounds difference, so it depends how much I can afford, if there is any discount etc.

Oh well a disappointment in the budget today, scrappage scheme for cars registered on or before 31st July 1999 - my step-dads old Laguna registered 1st August 1999. The choice to move up to a TS2 would have been nice but I love the car I picked and can't wait to pick it up. Roll on funds arriving.

Mazda2 Sport 1.6

« Reply #40 on: August 19, 2009, 08:42:46 pm »

Looks like I have broken the duck for the 1.6D. Bought the car in True Red back in June and so far very pleased. Have done about 3,000 miles and is averaging around 62 mpg. Grin
This is mainly commuting around the M60 and and a couple of trips to the Lakes and Surrey. Now it is starting to loosen up the mid range acceleration is quite impressive and the engine is only doing 2,500 rpm at 70mph so it is a relaxed cruiser on the motorway.
Just a couple of gripes, why isn't there cruise control on the 1.6 sport and the trip computer is very optimistic (shows 70mpg ,actual 62mpg).
