Well my infomation comes from my friend who works in Ford. Ive seen the infomation thats given out when you start working there and it gives a list of all the factorys that for owns and what is made in them. It looks simerlar to this wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_factories.

Yes there are differences between the two cars like engines, exhausts, bodywork and look of interior trim. It would be stupid for Ford to use every single comp thats in the 2 because people wouldnt by the New fiesta when it works out the 2 is cheaper.

Take one simerlarity look at the air vents on the dash these come directly from the fiesta. Other comps like the brakes, suspension, chassis, 5 speed gearbox (in most models) is the same. All the wiring is the same, rain sensors on higher spec models is the same. Its not unusal for different car brands to be made in the same factory take the toyoya aygo, pegeut 107 and citron c1 as an example.

At the moment nothing is being made in valencia as the factory is on a temp shut down. I dont know if they have moved production back to Japan but it woudnt be a suprise. Mainly becuase ford has a smaller stake in mazda and there is talk of shutting the valencia plant.

Yes I do like my car. Apart from the white powder stain that the dealer mechanic put on my front passenger seat Angry.

The current model is built in Japan www.mazda.com/publicity/release/2007/200705/070521.html

Google09 and evilfish5000, I'm taking back my words about components, you were right, Mazda2 and Fiesta shares about 40% components, instead of it, as you read above, Mazda2 is really built in Japan Smiley

I have blackout dials, but I think at times I prefer the white ones that were in the demo car I tested too, they seem more natural Undecided

Well my 2009 1.4 Diesel has all of the bits mentioned, but has white dials and no textile doortrim. I'm not sure about the new headlights, are the same ones fitted to all models?

Those are the original standard headlights, yeah. Same colour as my car too. Good choice, heh.

Textile door trim is available only on the highest level (in CZ is GTA), the same blackout dials and new projector headlights. Maybe it's the same in UK.

Thats a shame, I thought the upgrades would have spread further across the range.
