I know it depends on the type of tyre and how heavy you are with your load pedal, but has anyone had the need to change front tyres yet and if so what was the mileage they achieved. Huh?

Yes, i'm interested in this too.

I nearly brought a suzuki swift but found out they crucify their tyres, it's one of the reasons i went for the Mazda 2.

So far i've been unable to find any information about Mazda 2 tyre wear.

Hi Google09,
I own a TS2, which is fitted with the standard Toyo R27 185/55/R15 82V. They are surprisingly big for a standard supermini and at V rating good for 149 MPH/240 KPH, a trifle overspecified for the model but they do help endow the car with excellent roadholding and handling.
I am sure the Sport must be a revelation. How does it compare with your MX5?
I enjoy pushing the car through bends but tend to stick to speed limits off the Motorway.
We have covered 4020 miles over the past 8 months and the front tyres have exactly 7mm of tread and the rear just over 7mm.
They were 8mm when new. If the rate of wear remains consistent I will be well satisfied, as regular spirited cornering does not seem to come with excessive wear penalties.
Replacement Toyos are retailing for around £54. Not a bad deal. I am sure they could be found cheaper with a quick check on the internet.
Cheers

I like our Toyos too the offer great handling in sharp turns even with some more speed Wink
From roadnoise there is a bit but haven't driven a car that claims to be better so far to see the difference Wink
Also we don't have the best roads here;) On new road they are just fine Wink

Where I work have got a deal with Toyo to recommend their tyres when replacing.
I get them at cost plus 10%, gotta love staff rates! Grin No idea how much that would be for a 2 though/ Huh?

Had 2 fronts for the wife's corsa last month. Came to about £56 tracked etc.
Haven't checked the tread on mine yet but I will tonight out of interest and post results tomorrow.
I've only done 8000 odd in my sport, but I can sometimes drive "enthusiastically" Tongue

Hello  Mikew, the sport is not a bad drive really considering the size of car, but no comparison with the MX-5. Smiley
The 5 we have has a 2.0 engine and 160 bhp and the 0-60 figure is 7.9 sec, so it has a considerable performance advantage over the 2 and is a much better handling car  Grin
The 2 was really purchased as a general run around and although its only 2 months old I am almost certainly going to change it for an all new Mazda 3 1.6 Sport before the end of the month due to a few problems I have had with the 2, however the problems have been put right and have been covered on a previous post on the this forum.
Hope the info helps and enjoy your 2 Grin

Better late than never...
I've done 8501 as of this morning and I've only scrubbed about 1mm off the fronts, I did forget to look what make they were though but I'll go and have a look when it stops raining and post then. Grin

Hi Matkeir,
I am amazed at the lack of wear on your car's front tyres.
At the current wear rate, even if you renew the tyres at the much safer 2mm rather than the legal minimum of 1.6mm you would get over 50,000 miles out of a set of front tyres, which is outstanding.
Are the tyres the usual Toyo brand?
Cheers

Still haven't been out to look Undecided
I really only drive my car 16 miles a day to work and back hence the low mileage after 16 months.
The measurement I took was an average to be honest and it was getting dark so it might be a little more than I posted above, I'll check again tonite Tongue

I had to replace my two fronts this week due to a bulge on the wall of one casued by a rather nasty pot hole. When checked the guy said there was about 4mm remaining and that was on 10k. Insidently I've got some nice sticky Avons on now. Seems much better in the wet than the Toyos.
