In the absence of any recommendations I went for a couple of Pirelli P6000's at £68 a corner fitted. [Pirelli P6000]

OK, 59p each more expensive than Blackcircles.com but I don't mind since I'm supporting a local business.

Getting them fitted tomorrow (Monday) and I'll give some feedback once they've been on the car for a while.

Wow, has it really been almost 4 months since I had the Pirelli's fitted?  Grin

I'll try and break this down in sections:

  • Road noise - in my opinion there seems to be less road noise compared with the original Toyo's
  • Dry grip - exceptional grip in the dry, the car still turns in very nicely with no loss of grip yet.
  • Wet grip - excellent! The Toyo's had a nasty habit of spinning in the wet when you pull away quickly.

As for longevity - I'll update this thread with miles covered when it come to renewal time

Hi guys, I need advice on replacing two front tyres, I've managed to get 30k out of the Toyo R27.

Should I try an alternative or stick with Toyo R27?  I have been very impressed with the longevity.

I found that the Toyo's that came on the 2 (r27'?'s) lasted me about 3k, after that tried some avon's. The avon's lasted me about 2k and I found them just so poor on grip. Went for contisport 3's a few sets after this, found they lasted about 6k like clockwork. Very impressive both wet and dry, lost allot of performance right at the end of their life though. My current set I've gone for four Michelin pilot sport 3's, they are THE most impressive tyres I have ever had. Ridiculous amounts of grip in any weather and they give such a good feel for the road, only problem with these is that kwik fit will quote you £140 a corner.
