Hi all,  I'm also hoping to take advantage of the scrappage deal....

My parents own a J reg Fiesta, but aren't interested in a brand new car, therefore they're willing to have my 2003 Fiesta and trade in their car for a Mazda 2 TS2, iniitially registered to them.

Does anyone know if there's a minimum time that a car must be registered to the new keeper, or could my parents simply send off part of the V5 and change the vehicle to my name as soon as they get home?

Also, any idea what price I should be lookign to get on a Mazda 2 TS2  (3dr) with the scrappage deal?

Thanks all!

The scrappage deal works like this. The first condition is that you must have a car that is over 10 years old and owned it for at least a year. When you come to trade in the car you will be given a £1000 credit for the car and the dealer will lower the car price by £1000.

Are you planning to buy the car on finance or in cash. If its just all cash then there should be no problem in getting it signed over straight away. Finance might be a different story as all the credit agreement will be in your parents name.

However you should be able to get everything in your name from the start. There is nothing stopping your parents signing over the car to the dealer for a deposit/price reduction i dont think there is any rules stopping them doing it.

You should be able to pick up at least £2000 trade in for an 03 fiesta anyway personally id see what they would offer for your fiesta 1st before doing the scrappage thing.

Basically the scrappage thing is pointless. Trade your fiesta you will get more money off the new car then you proberly will from the scrap deal.

Hi, I have spoken to mazda today and they are expecting to release info on their scrappage conditions next week some time as they are still finalising details. They are expecting it to be on the full list price due to to much loss otherwise (although again this may change) so a ts2 3door would be around 7878 plus £385 or so for metalic paint. Hopefully we should hear more asap as I fell in love with this car ages ago and am now seriously desperate for one. lol.

Deal would be in cash by my parents.  Essenitally I am selling my car to them (03 fiesta) AND getting the trade in (on J reg fiesta), so £4k off a TS2, equalling £5878 plus paint!

I guess this scheme works better for me than most people, as we're not trading in a car of any value at all, so 2k off list price is still a pretty decent discount!  Can't imagine I'd negotiate this discount any other way...

Sorry if I've confused, as there's actually two fiestas involved, not just mine....

Lucky all of you that you have a scrappage deal. We still don't... And my girlfriend will be glad to change her 15 years old Skoda Favorit for new Mazda2 Smiley

ARGH! Still waiting for Mazda to announce full details of scrappage.... Dealer told me Friday 15th he should know more, yet the deal officially starts Monday 18th.

I was patient at first but now I just want a Mazda, and I'm obsessively checking their website each day Sad

Rang Mazda sales today asking when they're ever going to announce details only to be cheerfully told there's a website form I can complete..... WELL I KNOW THAT!

Gonna pop into Mazda tomorrow and see if I can actually secure one for definite, I'm petrified that they'll all go and I won't be able to get one.

On a side note, if you couldn't buy a Mazda 2, what would you opt for on the same budget?
