Hi, thanks guys, we will certainly press for them to be replaced. I think it is probably due to not enough paint and laquer on the edges that's caused salt to penetrate to the actually alloy...

Hi, ok the dealership has taken photos to pass on to Mazda for them to decided on. I'm not particularly impressed with that as it is quite obvious that the wheels have corroded under the paint. However it is my partners car and she wants to wait on their decision.

Hi, give them their due, both wheels replaced this morning under warrenty. Just a pity it took an hour to do, but at least they are new and unmarked, until she kerbs it of course

Corrosion is starting to appear on my alloys now.

It's due a service in a couple of months so will get them to check it out when it goes in.

We have just had two wheels replaced on both of our TS2s - on both cars it was the wheels that had spent the most time on the front.  The corrossion was very noticeable on one car but minimal on the other, though neither as bad as cuke2u in Feb 10.  The dealer took pictures and sent them to Mazda and the replacements were authorised within 2 days.

At nearly 2½ years old it was probably the best time to get them done under warranty, so we have no complaints with Mazda over this issue - though having to replace the front tyres (on both cars) at 15000 miles wasn't great!

EDIT - just to clarify things, I didn't have to buy new tyres for the new wheels.  The tyres would have needed replacing within another 1-2000 miles as I wouldn't want to go into autumn/winter with less thatn 3mm tread on them.  I guess I may have squeezed 18000 miles from them, but that isn't great compared to previous cars.

Just noticed my front ones today are corroding and have been given the same talk by the dealer, take it in to have photos taken but will only be replaced if it quite bad apparently. I am not impressed with the fact that the car is just over a year old and I also have this clutch click problem still.Mazdas warranty is not what it used to be!

The amount of corrosion on my wife's wheels was bad, but I was surprised that mine were authorised for replacement as it was minimal.  The dealer said the only refusal they have had from Mazda was for wheels that had also been badly kerbed.

As I posted above, getting the wheels replaced when we have was good timing for our cars.  Another thing to watch out for is the release button on the boot, it had perished on both of our cars at under 2 years old and I have seen other 08 reg cars with the same fault (and left a note for the owner in one case).  Interesting that yours has the pedal click at a year old as it has seemed to be most common 08 and 58 cars.

We have been disappointed with the amount of time our cars have been off the road, about 10 days for each car in 2½ years.  However apart from the clutch pedal click we have had no problems at all getting any of the work done under warranty.
