Well hello dear members once again!

Today I visited our garage for my 10 000km service (6 213.71192 miles) Wink
went there at 0730 left the keys and I was told to pick it up later at 1230! I was back there at 1200 and the car was ready at the parking!
I went inside to pai and here is the bill:

ITEM  CODE                 ITEM  DESCRIPTION                                      QTY            PRICE(EUR) VALUE(EUR)
M21O                           MAZDA   2,   10.0O0KM                                        1               57.00      57.00
SUPER  5W-30           MOBIL   SUPER  FE   SPECIAL   5W30                4                8.OO       31.99
SP-1OO2                   OIL   FILTER                                                1                4.27       4.27
S/M                           SUNDRIES                                                        1               6.OO        6.01
MD-8O62                   AIR  FILTER                                                        1              11.79       11.79
9956  41   400            PACKING                                                          1               2.OO        2.00

TOTAL: 98.25+ 15% VAT = 113EUR = 101.62GBP

Here are what they returned to me:

And after some search
http://www.alcofilters.com/filter_details_en.aspx?filterId=1747

http://www.alcofilters.com/filter_details_en.aspx?filterId=2393

The car is now a bit more responsive but it is because the engine is now at 10 000km so I can rush it and the parts are new;)
BTW can somebody explain me what sundries are as I was too busy asking?

They didn't bother to clean the engine bay instead some oil traces were on the plastics and when I told them about it they said to me to bring the car anytime I wanted to clean the engine! Yeah right like I will have spare time to go for an engine cleaning! I cleaned it myself.

I think sundries is just the disposal cost of the stuff taken out and changed.

What ever way you look at it its still a rip off for what is basically an oil and air filter change. Im suprised you have a service interval at 10,000km. Mine will be due 12,500 miles. Or has it been a year since you bought the car.

My next oil change is at 15000km and the next service at 20000km! It has not been a year yet just 10 000km and that short interval is due to the hot and dusty climate here! If you consider that air filter takes one minute to change (As I can open it and change it) and the oil change about half an hour (since that's how much I wait on a simple oil change) the need to book for a complete service and all this noise around it is just a trick in order to explain the high cost!
At simple oil changes they only charge the oil not the engineers' effort at 32EUR.
Well they also check the engine I guess as any failure between the 3 years of warranty would bring them in a difficult position. Oh and they filled up the water for the windscreen...!

Oh yeah we are all definatly being ripped off for dealer service. Well its not as bad as BMW with there £300 bills. I think a change in career is in order about now.

Hi, My TS2 had it's first service today.
It has only covered 5808 miles as we have retired and share the use of two cars.
Cost £134.47 inc. VAT at JCT 600, Wakefield.
The oil to spec cost £45 of that.
( I can remember a friend being charged £100 for the first service on a MK 1 Fiat Panda by the Leeds branch of the same company chain, in 1985)
The car was cleaned and ready on time.
Wear to discs, disc pads, tyres included in the report. The slight corrosion on two wheels was photographed and is to be sent to Mazda.
The slight ping at the top release point of the clutch pedal; which has just started was diagnosed as coming from the pedal pivot and was greased - I will leave the matter unless it gets worse!
A new, front number plate was fitted as the plastic coating was peeling.
So, we happily drove away hoping for another year of relatively trouble free motoring.

Hi Angelos,
An interesting difference in costs for our oil changes.
According to my service printout; Oil - £45, Sump Plug - £1.20, Oil Filter - £5.75 and the labour for the oil change will have been included in the total labour cost of £65.
Which must be £60 + for an Oil Change.
The 2 year 25000 mile Service costs more here in the UK, something over £200.
Still as part of the ongoing costs to keep the car in good fettle and the warranty in effect for 3 years, not too bad.
Better than the relative deals on some white goods.

My oil filter is changed every 10000km and cost as the list on my first post. Every 5000km now it's a simple oil change hence the difference in price Wink But indeed they are quite reasonable prices considering it's the franchise service!
