Hi, My TS2 had it's first service today.
It has only covered 5808 miles as we have retired and share the use of two cars.
Cost £134.47 inc. VAT at JCT 600, Wakefield.
The oil to spec cost £45 of that.
( I can remember a friend being charged £100 for the first service on a MK 1 Fiat Panda by the Leeds branch of the same company chain, in 1985)
The car was cleaned and ready on time.
Wear to discs, disc pads, tyres included in the report. The slight corrosion on two wheels was photographed and is to be sent to Mazda.
The slight ping at the top release point of the clutch pedal; which has just started was diagnosed as coming from the pedal pivot and was greased - I will leave the matter unless it gets worse!
A new, front number plate was fitted as the plastic coating was peeling.
So, we happily drove away hoping for another year of relatively trouble free motoring.

Hi, as my mondeo only cost £125 for its first service I think it proves the point that in fact Mazda's are more expensive. I'm sorry to say that also exchange rates have nothing to do with it as they aren't realistic, if it was the case then many electrical items would be much cheaper in this country, which of course they aren't..

Hi,
More expensive to service possibly, but not more expensive to buy. Even with the discounts Ford are currently offering on the Fiesta, models are more expensive than the equivalent M2.
The greatest 'cost' to car buyers is depreciation and it will be interesting to see when Ford have flooded the market with their Fiesta world car what this does to their used values compared to the Mazda 2. We shall have to wait and see.

Hi, I bet I can easily get a Fiesta for M2 prices however we are talking running costs here aren't we?  Grin The fact is someone stated in this forum that Ford's were more expensive to service, however when comparing the cost of servicing a large family car to that of a M2 supermini they aren't, which is wrong in my book..

Hi Chris,
The first service cost for your diesel Mondeo seems very competitive, especially for a big car.
I believe servicing for diesel cars is usually more expensive than petrol versions, as well.
I am sure that the cost of servicing reflects the policy of individual garages and local competition and thus varies even between franchises for the same make of car.
I seem to remember someone on another thread who said they had paid £175 for the first service on their M2.
The biggest cost is still depreciation and we are yet to see how the Fiesta and M2 compare on this issue.
