Hi Guys,
Over the past 10 years I have been trying to collect 1/43rd scale model cars in the exact colours of vehicles that I have owned.
Some I bought at Toy Fairs and more recently on the internet.
I still need a silver Toyota Avensis 2002 and still no luck with a Mazda 2. Anyone aware of a 1/43rd scale model?
There are bigger and smaller scales available at the moment, mostly of the Sport.
Picture of some of my old pals.

You know colric, saving models of all of the cars you have owned sounds a really good idea and I might start doing it. Tongue
I only have 41 years to look back on and then find all the car to owned in that time, god that could keep me busy for a while! Wink Grin

Hi Angelos,
I used to assemble Airfix and Revell plastic kits of aircraft when much younger. I gave up when my Mum, in making my bed caused an updraft and half a dozen models took off and were smashed on the floor.
I have got some 1/72 scale Corgi models of mainly WW2 Merlin engined fighters. They are Die-cast and apart from the propellers, less easy to damage.
I make my own bed now!
I have some 1/18 scale models of cars, mainly Jaguar and about 80 smaller vehicles. Some, I have owned ( in the cabinet, the third row up) and cars I would have liked to own, in the rows above!
The buses are models with destination headboards familiar to me and I have travelled on each of the real buses; some at Airshows and Transport museum open days.

Hi Gazr,
You will find eBay Toys and Collectables very useful. I have bought some from USA, China, Italy and France. Paypal makes payments safe. Toy Fairs are also very good. Always bargain with the Vendors.
The 1/18 scale cost me between £10 - £20. Not bad considering the detail with accurate engine mouldings, opening doors and steering that works.
Some of the rarer 1/43 cars cost £20 +.
It can take years and suddenly you find the vehicle you want in the right colour. In the early days I found three at the same Toy Fair. We Senior Gents 'do patience' well.
Happy hunting.

H Angelos,
You have an Ace collection. All the more impressive because you have assembled the vehicles yourself.
I especially like. the rally cars, a particular interest of mine. The stickers must be very difficult to line up.
The Enzo must be a complex kit as it has more parts than your other two Ferraris put together.
Is the plastic of the Ferrari kits red, or did you paint the 360? The finish of the bodywork looks very smooth.
Humbrol paint! I used to use that. I did not think the company was still in business.
I may have a go at a model kit now you have inspired me. It will help pass the time during the cold winter months.
Thank you very much for posting.

Hi Gazr,
Although our Mk2 Mazda 2 is a rare collectable; the matchbox model is not particularly good and a larger scale model I have seen was too expensive, there are some excellent MX5 models on eBay. All you need is the right colour - then go for it!
AND - if you do come across a 1/43 scale Mazda 2 in Aurora blue, I would like to be the first to know about it!
Cheers

Thanks colric! Rally cars from Humbrol are really difficult to paint and put the stickers not so because of the size but because of the high flexibility the stickers have. Revell stickers get the shape when you put them on the car in contrast with Humbrol's whose sides stick together before putting them on the car- really annoying!!
The 360 is painted by me and it is a mixture of "Ferrari red gloss" and "Fiery red gloss"!
I've been searching for a 2 model and found the same as you! The big one which in my opinion isn't really beautifully style and it must be poor quality is very expensive!!

Hi Angelos,
As you can get such a good quality of paint finish on the 360 model you shouldn't have any trouble touching up the paint on your Mazda 2.
After reading your review of Humbrol and Revell models I think my first car kit will be by Revell.
I just need to choose a suitably easy model to begin with.
Thanks for the information.
