I must confess the colour scares me a little, any tips on keeping a black car clean and unscratched/swirled?

black is the colour of champions.

Dry it.  And don't be daft to use any material hard enough to cause a scratch on it.  and dry it.

Then polish it.

I agree, black is a colour which needs skill in order to keep it clean without scratches or dirty  spots!!

At least it won't show tar blobs and marks which seem to be getting a more regular occurance on the roads these days. Wink

get some decent quality polish and keep your rags clean! And as others have said avoid car washes and jet washes (especially the brush heads) like the plague!

Naturally tend to wash with two buckets, one for hot soapy water and one for cold rinsing water, so that should take care of the wooly car mit i wash with.

Still scares me just the thought . . it looks fab in black but it could go two ways

1) I become a compulsive car cleaner, unlikely as have no time for life let alone cleaning car to often
2) It gets very dirty

Hoping it's one, fear it might be two.

Will keep you posted.

I've got a black car and I've got three separate scratches on it.

One I know I've made while washing it (well it was actually the chamois leather that must somehow had a bloody grain on it).

The other one I don't know how it got there, I suspect someone brushed past it at work (stupid layout of car park so people walk "between" the cars to get to the entrance).

The last one I have no idea how it got there as it is at the back of the car.

Since I have created at least one of these scratches through washing, I really try to take supercare when actually washing it. But, I don't use the chamois leather anymore so I live with the water marks pretty much. Rather a not super shiny car than a scratchy car, imho.

Black is awful for scratches....and the paint seems really quite thin as well, probably to keep the weight down.

It's here!!!!!!!!!

Picked it up and ..... it needs the stripes re applyed as the professional fitter f..ked it up.

But apart from that it is fab, will get (it cleaned) and then get some pics up here.

Driven 200 miles in it today an dmust say i am impressed, going from a MINI Cooper S to the Mazda 2, obviously not as quick but equally the TS2 is not slow either.

It drives like a light car, surprisingly quiet and the 5th gear is a great cruiser.

More later ...

The originals stripes faded all ready? Will they replace them at no cost?
