Hi, did that include the bonnet sensor as well? Seems like some dealers don't understand what the fault could be..

Great news ozp, will give my garage a call and make sure they've got the part available when my car goes in.  Glad someone got to the bottom of it and we can now "get alarmed" properly !!   Wink

Scottiedog did you get your alarm fixed?  Did it turn out to be the same problem?  Just interested, my car goes in next week for the alarm problem to be rectified.

Noticed mine has been doing this, not often though, only twice so far. I usually have to unlock and re-lock it but then its all fine after that

Got my new Mazda 2 Tamura on 1st March 2010.  Same alarm problem as everybody else.  Previous fix from Mazda (as posted by ozp) apparently no longer works on facelifted model.  Had to wait till Wed 7th April for very latest alarm control unit from Japan.
It was fitted and every thing works OK now. Don't reckon much to Mazda selling these cars with a known fault for which they had no cure until now.  3 others at my Mazda dealership were in same situation as me. This should not happen with a new car.
Full marks to my dealer, Chris Allen Mazda at Fleetwood, for getting this sorted out with Mazda technical department as soon as Mazda came up with the answer.

johnmag, do you have any part number details etc?  Think the Goblin's got the same problem and I want to be well armed when I need to head to Hodgsons to get it sorted.

1600 miles of happy motoring so far and this is the only problem really.  Better than it leaving the factory with 8v engine management software on a 16v car causing the car to stop/stall/lose power when it felt like it (51 plate Clio), not enough oil in gearbox from factory and  gearbox needing replacing after 2000 miles (same Clio)!

Thanks johnmag I have read your posts but what I was told yesterday after the dealer rang tech support is that they have no cure at the moment and they are working on it and they will get back to me when they sort it out and you will be on the list to get the parts first when they sus it out.

It's just not good enough I got told to lock the car with the key not the fob so the alarm does not arm but this would invalidate my insurance if the car was stolen or broken in to and the alarm was not active (you know what insurance companies are like any excuse not to pay out).

I rang Mazda and asked why they had sold me a car with a fault they know about but cant fix my car is 2 months old this has been going on since last year I gather from other threads they just crawled into their shell and said they would get some manager to call me today well up to now no phone call

well I think i will be employing the sales of goods act on them they can just replace the car now I've had enough.
Me and my partner both work for the NHS we cant just say we'll be in late tomorrow because i got to take the car to the garage again we have to take the whole day off so between me and my partner we have had to take 10 days off work and the car is still not fixed.
great car crap customer service it's gona be hard to buy another mazda when this one is due for replacement after this saga.

Hi - for info of mj.charlton and any other interested party - my dealer is Chris Allen Mazda at Fleetwood.  Tel 01253 872292.  The service manager is Mike Allen and he is the man who sorted this all out with Mazda technical department.  He said that my car would be the first or at least one of the first in this country to get the latest alarm control unit from Mazda in Japan.
My Registration number is PE10XVW and maybe if you rang him he would give you the part number he fitted to mine.  My car is a three door Tamura and is apparently the facelifted model, although I'm not sure what was facelifted or when.  Anyway I took delivery of it on 1st March this year.
Best of luck.
