Just bought a set of mats from my dealer who said they could fit them - as they need fixing to the floor to stop them moving around. Asked about this and they said it would be £35 to fit them! Thats more than the mats themselves cost. Plus theres a 3 week waiting list as they are only open 3 hours on a Saturday. Very dissapointing so wondered if anyone knows how to fit them yourself?

There are a some square sections of the floor which need cutting out with a stanley knife and then I think just screwing them down through the holes in the mats, but if anyone has done this would be greatly appreciate - no way im paying £35 for someone to do i!

If they're official Mazda mats they should come with fitting instructions, and are very easy to fit.

Well you have to cut the carpet, but it is already partially cut if you run you hands over the carpet in the front you can see where, so its easy to do.

Had my mats fitted by the dealer before I picked my car up. Are they easy to remove from the car to clean?? Not looked too closely at mine yet but as I didn't get the instructions with it I've not yet worked out how they come away from the car!

Great to find this thread. I was handed the mats by the dealer with no instructions or fitting "kit" and at the moment, they do move around a little. Would be good to get them properly anchored.

I haven't been able to date to work out how to do it.  Could you post instructions?

Had a closer look today. The mats just 'pop' off the retainers - easy!!

What sort of screws are you supposed to use to fix them down? I've found the part-cut holes in the carpet, and the mats have a pair of plastic hole thingins near the trailing edge - but they must need large screws, bolts, or whatever as the holes in them must be about 8mm diameter.

Hockeyshooter.

There should have been some plastic studs that came with the mats (mine were installed by the dealer), which are attached to the floor through the holes in the carpet:

The holes in the rear edge of the mats then clip onto the studs, like this:

Hope that helps??

 Cheesy

The dealer told me that the mats take 30 mins to install, hence the charge in some instances. Can't quite see 30 mins work there. Glad my dealer fitted them for free!!
