I've just had my reminder come through for my tax disc:

£120 for 12 months
£66 for 6 months

When I bought my 2 (April last year) I knew that the tax for the first year would be £120, and would then drop to £90 the year after - this information was on the DVLA website last year.

So I checked their website again, and sure enough for my vehicle, emitting 129g CO2/Km I could expect to pay £90 for 12 months.

I then went through the online renewal process and was relieved to see I would indeed be charged £90. Cheesy

So my question is, how did DVLA manage to get the figure so wrong on the renewal notice when they knew about the changes last year?

If I'd have renewed at the PO would I have paid £120?

It has been mentioned on other forums about renewing before 01 April 2010 and paying more, but missing that if you renew before 01 April 2011 you will should the lower price - so advance notice for you then   Smiley

I renewed at the end of Feb and spotted this coming, so did six months and will do a year from the end of Aug at the lower price.  That is assuming that I have the car then, if I have got rid of it I won't mess around with a refund and the amount owing won't be great.
