My Car is currently in the garage being fixed.
I was wondering if anyone knew how many miles to the gallon it does? Its a Mazda 2 TS2 1.3.
I need to work this out as work are relocating me and I need to work out the expense.
Thanks again

Obiviously it depends on how you drive, what the journey is like and, recently, what the weather has been like.
I usually get around 40-41 to the gallon, but is probably more like 38 at the moment with having to de ice the car etc. I always record every fill up and work out the mpg, no reason other than that I always have done!

Ok thanks... At the moment I drive about 5miles to work and back, they are moving us 30 miles away.....meaning 60 miles of travel a day motorway driving (traffic). Just trying to work out how much its going to be cosing me a month really. They are going to have to pay me good for this!!!

If you try and keep under 60mph I'd think you'll use 6 to 6.5 gallons a week on the 300miles. I'd expect most companies would pay you a fixed rate per mile rather than how much you think it will be. That should include something towards depreciation as well.
I always work out the precise mpg on every fill up (at least its as precise as I can be), rather than just relying on how much it cost me to fill up and taking no notice of the mileage or cost of the fuel!

Well I don't know if they will be yet but I am being relocated so I think they have to make arrangements to fit the inconvenience they are causing.
Thanks for the help guys

i think the tank holds 42 litres so from empty to full costs about £45 at todays prices.

I think it is much less than that. I filled mine completely with about 34L.

The specifications for the car say 42 ltr and I have no reason to doubt that information.
As has been discussed elsewhere on the forum, the fuel gauage under reads quite a bit. I usually fill mine up once the gauge is flashing empty and normally put around 34-36 ltrs in.

I don't think its much more than 35l either: mine was absolutely empty when I got it (warning light flashing and all that) and I couldn't get more than 35l in.
Regards MPG, I tried the cruise for the first time yesterday and on a level road got 55mpg at 55mph from my 1.5 Sport!

I always record every fill up and work out the mpg, no reason other than that I always have done! A question for those doing this, how do the figures that you obtain using this manual method compare with the average consumption reading produced by the trip computer?

Mine is the TS2 so I haven't got the trip computer. My wife's Yaris had a trip computer and that used to give a figure that was around 2mpg higher than working it out manually.
To emphasise my posting above, the low warning flashing seems to be set to trigger with about 7-8 litres left in the tank. Until someone is prepared to keep going until they run out I guess we'll never know for certain - but I have no reason to doubt Mazda's specifications for the car.

Note that I used the word "seems" - I'm not coming out to push if you run out!
