I did them to 12nm (snug plus 1/2 a turn as that was advised on the ngk box. Think they?ll be fine or should I tighten a bit more?

Hi Cosh,

Thanks for the prompt reply,
Great help.
This is the part I need?  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Mazda-2-2007-2014-Petrol-Engine-Knock-Sensor-ZJ0118921-/282112594940
Lifting the bonnet up, the knock sensor seems to be plugged in correctly, so I assume its a malfunction.

Again many thanks for the help,
Rob.

I took a look at the ECP gasket and it was a bit thinner than the one i got from the mazda dealer, so that's your best bet!

Hi, thanks for the replies.

Its reassuring to hear you had the same issue, your spot on though it was an aftermarket gasket from euro car parts. I did clean it up but with a wire brush and some rag.

I'll try it again but with one from the mazda dealership.

 Cheers

Just watched the video. That is 100% the donut gasket still. You must have used aftermarket or did the job wrong. Did you clean the flange with some fine grit sandpaper before putting it back together?

Mine did exactly this and i suffered it for 15k miles until i finally got round to changing that donut gasket.

Did you use the OEM one from a mazda garage or aftermarket?

I'd spray some silicone lubricant into the mounts and also suspension bushings and see if it still does it. If it does, you can be sure it's one of those. Also check pulleys and the belt tensioner, as this can also be a source of squeaking when changing gear. Wouldn't recommend changing the tensioner unless you really believe its failing though as it's ?140!

Update*

Noise is significantly louder when engine is up to optimal temp. It is by far the most annoying sound I have ever heard and i've had some bangers in the past.

It is certainly down to excessive movement so I think i'm just going to have to remove and inspect each mount one by one and replace them.

Im going to start with the hydro mount as it is the most expensive at ?75.

Will post back in a couple of weeks with an update as it will have to squeak until i get paid  ;D

Things like this always happen just AFTER the warranty period

Cheers.

Thanks for that.  I might buy the lights and harness and have a go myself. What can go wrong.
