Bodywork & Fittings / A pillar and rear view mirror
« Last post by Slimy on Today at 08:07:10 AM »
Hi, now that we have our new Mazda 2, I'm looking to transfer the dash cam from our previous car to the new car. I can see a nice route down to the cigarette lighter socket, but the one thing I need to do is remove the A pillar cover to route the wire. Is it similar to other cars in that it just pulls off or is there something clever about it?

Second question is about the rear view mirror. The one in the car has delaminated on one side, and it's spoiling the otherwise perfect condition car. I've bought a second hand one off Ebay that is in better condition, but I can't quite tell how to remove the old one. I can see it does have a small notch in the end, which suggests screwdriver leverage is appropriate. Is that right or am I barking up the wrong mirror?

(Apologies, I've just noticed there is an interior fittings section so I guess this is in the wrong place!)
I've just got/sold my Mazda 2 / Hi there

Hi everyone, thank you for letting me join the forum. I've just bought a Mazda 2 for my wife, a 2013 TS in Aquatic blue. It's a lovely car to drive, although my wife is coming from a Peugeot 308 so it's a very different car.

I have a few initial questions, but I tend to be quite active on forums so hopefully I'll be able to contribute as time goes on.

I've just ordered a SE L Nav + auto in machine grey.
Test drove a Nissan Leaf and loved it but couldn't see a good reason to spend 10K more to choose it over the Mazda 2. Bugger global warming!!!

If anyone has a Mazda or Boomerang armrest fitted or any other after market armrest I'd appreciate some feedback please.
Ventilation / Re: Good news-Mazda recall going out for replacement condenser units

Yay, good news for you and others.  And a manufacturer doing the right thing  :)
Hi, I posted yesterday regarding the aircon in my 65 plate SportNav not working. Thought I'd post this as a new topic, as may be of interest to others and would have not been noticed in the other thread.

I rang Newport Mazda this morning, and was told that they've just had a recall issued by Mazda for failed condenser units. Letters to customers affected are going out today. She checked her list, and my car is on it  :) So, booked in for replacement at end of May.

Thanks all for the advice, i will get in touch with the dealers tomorrow. Car was first registered in October 2015 and i bought it in December. I?m afraid that checking whether the air con was working did slip my mind on a freezing cold day!

Hello here and new to owning a Mazda. I bought a 2015 SportNav automatic in December 2017 with 19,000 on the clock from local Mazda dealership. Car was fully serviced etc before I picked it up and came with a 12 month warranty. So far, everything with it has been great, but now we've had some hot weather, I find the air con is either very poor or is not working. It doesn't seem to cool the car at all and even pumps out hot air initially when the weather is warm.

I'm assuming this isn't right, i'm coming from an old '54 plate Fiesta that was icy cold within minutes! Should this be covered under my warranty or could I argue that it should have been spotted and corrected during the servicing etc before I picked up the car? This is my first time buying a car this new from a dealership, so I'm not entirely sure what should and shouldn't be checked over/covered by warranty. Advice would be appreciated  :)

It is very likely the condenser has failed (it is  known issue with the Mazda 2) As yours is a 2015 model and has a 3 year warranty it would depend when it was registered in 2015, suggest you take it back to the supplying dealer as soon as possible

There are posts on this forum about the current model 2 that are having problems/failures of the compressor.  Most seem to get it done under warranty but the most recent post on here seemed to not be covered, link here with links to other threads

There certainly is an issue with the aircon.
