Well, finally bit the bullet and stuck the memory card in my lap top. Followed the instructions and apart from taking nearly 2 hours it was a complete success.  Now when I go to Fife I am driving on the new bridge instead of driving on the river.
Wheels/Tyres / Re: Which Space Saver Wheel Size ?
« Last post by Si on December 08, 2018, 03:13:12 PM »
I've got a 2012 Sport with 16" tyres.  The manual only lists one size of spare regardless of the size of the standard wheels, and that is 14".  The tyre is listed as T115/70D14 88M.  It should be inflated to 60psi according to the manual.

Hope that helps  :)
Wheels/Tyres / Which Space Saver Wheel Size ?
« Last post by Colin7777 on December 07, 2018, 08:46:17 PM »
Just bought a Mazda 2 2013 for my Son and it has the liquid repair kit. I want chnage for a space saver and have seen 14 and 15 inch for sale on ebay. His tyres are 15 inch, so would it be a 14 or 15 inch space saver.

I know it seems obvious that I get a 15 inch but then thought why have 14 inch space saver as I cannot see any Mazda 2 having 14 inch standard road tyres and I see some have 16 inch wheels but there doesn't seem to be any 16 inch space savers.

Mazda 2 / Re: Front wing replacement
« Last post by Si on December 02, 2018, 03:35:58 PM »
Hi and welcome

Can't help with the wing replacement, but maybe with the rest.  My first 2 was a TS2 in early 2008 so I know the model line up fairly well, and I have a pdf of the brochure from 2012.

The original line up from launch in 2007 was the TS, TS2 and Sport.  The TS had a 1.3 (75bhp) engine and was the lowest specced car in the range.  The TS2 had a 1.3 (84bhp) engine and included things like aircon.  Top of the range was the Sport with a 1.5 (102bhp) engine, with cruise control, climate control, traction control and the like.  There was also one automatic model, which was badged as TS2 but had the 1.5 engine.

The Tamura came out after a year or so and was pretty much a 1.3 TS2 in a Sport body (but without the higher spec equipment) .  The Tamura later replaced the TS2 manual - making the later range TS, Tamura, Sport and TS2 auto.  The Sport was dropped from the range in late 2013 or thereabouts.  There were a few special editions, all on either of the 1.3 engines, and the usual end of production editions as well.

The rear wheel bearings were the subject of recall while I first owned my TS2.  I think I had them replaced again on that car, although it could have been on my current 2012 Sport - I honestly can't remember which!!!!  But it seems fair to say that rear wheel bearings are "weak point" on that generation of the Mazda 2.
Mazda 2 / Front wing replacement

Hi All
Recently purchased a 2009 TS2 1.3 (84 BHP) with 46k on the clock and very happy with the way it drives.
The main point of the topic is that I want to replace one of the front wings (passenger side) due to it having been poorly repaired IMO in the past.
The paint is a slightly different shade and you can see it has some filler in it from a previous accident.
Has anyone replaced a front wing and does the front bumper also have to come off, or can you get away with removing the bumper screws on that side and easing it away from the wing to get access? Is it a straightforward job anyone please?

Also, while I'm here, what's the difference between a straight Mazda 2 and a TS2, or are they all TS2's? Is it just a type of Mazda 2, like Tamura (but probably the most basic)?
Finally, there does seem to be quite a bit of road noise coming from the back which doesn't sound like wheel bearings to me so I'm kind of thinking it may be just the choice of tyres.
Do they tend to suffer from quite a lot of road noise?

Many thanks for your help - really love the car and how economical it is (nippy too)! :)

Seems poor that this feature is missing. Deadlocking is not great in case of an accident.
Troubleshooting / Electric Window Switch issue
« Last post by rwd3m on November 18, 2018, 06:07:41 PM »
Hi all,

My son brought his girlfriend's 06 Mazda 2 over a couple of weeks ago to see if I could get the passenger side electric window working.

After reconnecting the motor (someone has been in here before methinks!) still nothing from either switch. So I took the switch out and took it apart on the bench to find that unless it works by magic, there was nothing between the rocker and the switch to operate the contacts!

Son was duly dispatched to get a replacement switch, which he brought over yesterday. We fitted it and now the window at least operated from the drivers door switch but still nothing from the passenger door switch. I decided to take a look inside the replacement switch and guess what, just the same as the old switch, no physical link between the rocker and the swuitch. What's going on? Anyone had experienceof this?

Please help because it's confusing the life out of me.

Engine/Transmission/Powertrain/Exhaust / Clutch pedal squeak
« Last post by Anamcara on November 18, 2018, 05:26:20 PM »
Hi folks,
Can anyone shed any light on this. My wife's clutch pedal seems to "grind" as you depress it with a squeak, operation is fine but irritating none the less. Tried WD-40 but no real improvement. Thanks for any insight you may have.
Steering/Suspension/Brakes / Re: Steering shaft rattle/knock
« Last post by Avocet on November 13, 2018, 02:59:51 PM »
Hi All.  I'm new on here.  My daughter has a 2010 Mazda 2 (Petrol 85 bhp, 4 door) and I have the dubious honour of trying to keep it on the road!  It has a similar problem.  A slight knocking / rattling at low speeds / parking speeds.  In fact, it was an MOT advisory a couple of weeks ago - "slight steering knock but no visible defect detected".  Does anyone know what sort of a job re-greasing this intermediate shaft is, as a DIY proposition, please?

That's characteristic of suspension bushes.  Have they been checked?  Also (a long shot) but make sure the spare wheel is secure in its well in the boot!
