Just got a Mazda 2
« on: August 31, 2018, 11:08:21 AM »
Hey,

Just bought a Mazda 2 for my mrs. Its a 2015 SE-L Nav in white with 1 previous owner and around 14k miles on the clock. Just wanted to join as I have a a couple of questions:

1) Can I retrofit xenon lights
2) Any DIY to fit the rear parking camera

Thanks

Sorry, one more question. Is there a specific area for 'build threads'?

Hi Welcome to the forum.

I can answer 2 of your questions.     1)   There is nothing stopping you fitting Xenon lights to your car. However there is the question of legality.  In accordance with MOT regulations relating to Xenon headlamps your car must have a)  A headlamp self levelling mechanism.  Manual levelling is not sufficient   b)  You must have headlamp washers fitted.     There are plenty of aftermarket DIY  High Intensity Discharge (Xenon) light kits available. But headlamp washers are a different kettle of fish. It would probably entail changing your front bumper to one that could accommodate the washer mechanism.
But please do take note of what I have already mentioned.  As your car is 2015 you will be due an MOT this year.  If you fit an aftermarket HID kit without self levelling and washers, it will fail the MOT.

Regarding "Build Threads"   we have a "Projects" section   http://www.mazda2forums.co.uk/index.php?board=43.0    You will find it in the Technical area underneath Troubleshooting.
However I have to say that so far it has been unused and there are no postings in there.  I suppose not many Mazda 2 owners are modifying their cars enough to warrant posting anything. But of course you are welcome to start a trend. :)

Ok cool, thanks for the reply. In that case I think I will leave it (xenons). Going to get rear sensors fitted as my mrs prefers these to the rear camera.

So, here's the car, pictured with my car, not sure if there will be any interest in it as its a totally different car to the Mazda:

It has lane departure warning, sat nav and city assist brake. Everything else is bog standard I believe. Drove it around for a few days and the softness of the steering and clutch made it feel like a wrestling match when I jumped back in to the ///M. Let's hope it was as reliable as our last Jap motor, a 2004 Civic 1.7 CDTi which was scrapped on 238,000 miles.
